I agree, but MO State is probably going to have to go something like 16-2 to have any serious consideration. (According to the rpi prediction website they would still be okay at 15-3, but considering the human factor-they have no notable non-con wins- they better go 16-2) They have less room for error than WSU.

If the rpi prediction website is anywhere close to being right, it looks like WSU could lose 4 more games and still be in pretty good shape. Due to the human factor of the committee we certainly wouldn't want any of those losses to be to sub 200 rpi teams (or even sub 150 rpis).

It would really help strenghten WSU's case with the committee if MO state could end up with a top 50 rpi.
Right, I don't think MSU is getting enough media attention to get past the selection committee. Even with a decent RPI, their SOS is crappy and they haven't had the media -- that's two bad blows. There will need to be serious separation between the #2 and #3 teams for that scenario to pan out. Of course if they win the tournament ...

The best thing for us and the Valley is if MSU goes 16-2 and those two loses are to us.

        I would agree with that.

What makes this loss is even worse for UNI is they were fortunate in getting SIU without the services of Gene Teague. Sounds like he is day-to-day and will be back soon.

UNI did beat them in Vegas.
New Mexico is 10-3 with a rpi of 59, so I would say right now anyway that is better than any of the Shocker wins and one of the best by any Valley member.

UNI also has wins over Iowa State (12-2) and TCU (9-5) to go along with their wins over Indiana and New Mexico. While those aren't great wins they are certainly solid wins.

I don't think any other Valley team could list four better top 4 non-conference wins (in the eyes of a selection committee). I think UNI's 4 wins compare to WSU's three wins over Virginia, LSU and Tulsa (but it is only 3 compared to 4 for UNI).

The problem with UNI is that they can't shoot (214th in FG %) and are terrible at rebounding (293rd). They play great defense which is why they are not consistent. If even a bad team has a good shooting night then they just don't have the offensive power to keep pace.
