Doug Elgin on the MVC

Elgin clueless on Conference RPI. Says it doesn't matter at this time of the year. He must not understand that non-conference play is ending and conference RPI is now pretty much locked in.

Elgin thinks MVC will have 2-3 team with at-large chances [he must be drunk].

Say conference RPI won't have impact on the TV contract.

On Schedule Requirement - Conference needs to practice more Strategery. Get in more tournaments. Creighton has a real good handle on it, but schools are buying to many low RPI games. Did say WSU fans travel well and help them get to exempt tournaments.

No concern about the league. Conference needs 2-3 teams to separate themselves from everybody else in the conference.

Still likes Bracketbusters. Thinks it helps the teams at the top of the conference to add another quality game.

MWC challenge runs for 2 more years.

Elgin is really excited about CU baseball. Omaha new stadium will set the standard for MVC baseball tournaments.

2-4 team pool format for MVC tournament. Championship game on ESPN-U.

MVC basketball tournaments will be in HD on Fox Sports.

MVC tournament will be wide open. He wouldn't touch the Booker Woodfox 1.9 seconds. He thinks WSU won't win the league and will finish 3rd.

I might have taken a little liberty :whistle: but he did say he thought the conventional wisdom was wrong about WSU running away with the league. He doesn't think it will happen and he though there there were two other teams who could easily win the league (hinting at CU and MSU I suppose).

He's just another milktoasty, don't offend anyone, everyone's just dandy the way they are, nobody is last, what can I do to bring more money to St. Louis kind of guy.

I've met Doug, I like him, he's a hardworking honest kind of a guy but his attitude about our conference sucks in my opinion.

What's wrong with saying (for instance) "WSU and MSU look to have superior talent and depth this season and while I don't expect any of the Valley teams to concede the trophy to Wichita, Gregg's team is loaded and we hope they meet their goals and make a deep run at March Madness. Their program and fans have invested and committed to get here and it would be great for the Valley if they could represent the conference on the national stage. The rest of the Valley is going to have to step to compete successfully with the Shockers this season.

Didn't say I agreed with what he said, I just don't like anyone being called a douche. I think he has done some good things for the Valley, but then he turns around and negates them. Go figure. I agree with Doc that Elgin needs an attitude adjustment when it comes to the conference. Leadership with a "new" view might get us a long way down the road.

So how long do you have to listen before they get to Doug Elgin, I have been listening for over 6 minutes and still no Elgin.
