Pretty good compromise, I think, but I'm not paying to watch a basketball game from those particular seats again, cause it's too tough to tell Stutz from Ragland from up there. I am thinking there are probably 8-9,000 good seats at Koch, but certainly not that many good seats at Intrust.
The problem is, when we get KU, or KState, or North Carolina, or Duke in to play at IBA, I'm not willing to "opt out" from it being part of the season ticket package, and then have the chance being "left out" because it quickly sells out before I get to my computer to buy. Leave it in the ticket package, enjoy the change for one game, and quit whining!

I'm tired of the quit whining posts. People pay good money for good seats. Whoever assigned seats did a piss poor job of it. I've heard of people who've been season ticket holders for 20 years getting stuck near the top. Then there's me, who expected crappy seats at the top and probably deserved them, who ended up in about the tenth row behind the bench. I've had season tickets for 3 years and all have been spent in row 24.

I was stoked about my seat but definitely shouldn't have been there. If we play there again and my seat is near the top, I'll probably try and sell it as I've heard nothing but bad reports from those who were up there. Again, some of these people sit a hell of a lot closer to the floor than I do at CKA and got screwed at IBA. They have a right to, and should complain about it.

          +1

I hate to compare the game to Taylor Swift's concert, but there were many left out that really wanted a ticket. Getting my Tulsa ticket in the mail, no matter where they put me, was more important than potentially not getting one.

Now that I've had some time to think about it - I'll go to all the games scheduled at IBA. Probably look forward to the chance to see another venue.

My seats weren't as nice as I have at CKA. I wasn't among a group of season ticket holders. Maybe season ticket holders gave away their tickets in the area where I was sitting.

I learned some things from this game that I will do different next time. That will remove a lot of the problems I had with this game. I might even go to a rodeo or something like that to learn a little more about the layout of the arena and to have some practice at getting to the arena and parking.

I will also encourage WSU to negotiate a better deal for the season ticket holders. The shortage of seats on the side with the luxury boxes knocks out thousands of "center court" seats that are available at CKA, but not at IBA. That's always going to mess up seating assignments.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

People have the right to whine if they want to. Some people probably were treated unfairly. My seats weren't great but probably somewhat close to where they should be. I hope that WSU tries to make the process better in the future.

However, if it helps the BB program (and it sounds like Marshall thinks it will and he's the only one in a position to decide in my opinion) with recruiting, etc., I hope that they continue to have events at IBA because I want the program to continue to improve and IBA was a small inconvenience. In fact, I had a good time at an alternative venue that provided other entertainment values before and after the game. I think that one or two times a year at IBA would be good if it helps the program. I do hope that people who felt they were treated unfairly can move on and positively support the program. It was fun having 14,000+ people in the same building cheering for the Shockers. I hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

Aargh, I would recommend attending the Women's NCAA Tournament on Sunday, March 20th and/or Tuesday, March 22nd. That way you check out various vantage points with IBA set up for basketball and my guess is that the crowds will be relatively small.

In fact, I think the WSU athletic department should assign a couple of their staff to take advantage of that opportunity to do the same thing. Someone from the WSU AD should sit in each and every section of the arena and evaluate them for viewability and comfort.

If they don't want to use staff time for that, they could hire one of the WSU marketing classes to do that study. Might be an interesting study/analysis for some of the MBA students.

In any case get some ammunition to use in negotiationg with IBA.
