  • Grading IBA

    Concession

A - wide variety of choices and what I had was good quality. I'm sure for some having adult beverages kicks this up to A+.

    Building Layout

B - Concourse is layed out fine, but the inside just feels a little crowded. It just feels like the building should be bigger.

    Seats

B - Was midway up, center court in the upper section. Once I got over the initial vertigo from the steepness, it was alright and no complaints about the the view.

From the looks of it, the lower bowl seats would grade out as A.

Seats are more crowded than Koch and my neck will probably be sore in the morning from looking down. Best I can say about the view was it was different. It was more of "overhead" view.

    Scoreboard

D - what a waste of scoreboard. Koch arena is much more useful.

    Parking

    A - no problems or issues. [/b]

I was actually very surprised of how great the atmosphere was.

Yeah it was pretty electric. I think WSU should try to do a couple of games every year at Intrust.

I was wondering what it sounded like down low - was is equal or louder or less than Koch.

There seemed less noise up higher which I believe is due to the sound treatments in the roof area for optimizing the arena for concert.

Hearing complaints on the radio about non-season ticket holders have better tickets than some actual season ticket holders. Keep in mind, there is the ticket market place where some members put their tickets up for sale and non- season ticket holders purchase them. :goshocks:

I don't think it was as loud as Koch, but it was very electric. And it was great having 14000+ cheering on the Shocks. It just gave it a big game atmosphere.

              Great venue.

Agreed about the scoreboard. It's a waste of space. No stats at all like at Koch. They could utilize the ribbon board for that stuff but didn't.

The arena is a jewel outside of that. I thought the crowd and atmosphere was great for a non-campus "NBA-type" venue. It was nice to experience something different.

              Grade A.

                Pros

-A LOT of WSU fans, it was definitely one of the coolest things I've experienced. I didn't think the noise level was as good, but the number of WSU fans was definitely cool to see.

                -The chicken strips were good.

                Cons

                - My Pepsi tasted like piss. Whoever decided to use cups that poison drinks needs to be fired.

                - The place needs more exits.

My tickets are right at half court about 2/3 the way up. At Intrust we were placed directly behind the backboard on our end. I was disappointed at first but really ended up not minding the placement.

Atmosphere was great, concessions great, beer great. Scoreboard sucks and not enough men's rooms. Line nearly every time I went.

All in all, had a great time. It was a perfect first game at Intrust....really liked it.

As SB said, the concourse is way too narrow. It might have been caused by site constraints, but I am just guessing.

The concourse should have been at least 12'-15' wider.

I thought the men's rooms were a little on the small side.

I realize the information center above center court is an all purpose board, but it is almost worthless for basketball. It does keep up with the score nicely.

Alright this is gonna piss all you season ticket holders off.

I walked into the intrust bank arena box office at 11 30 AM today, and purchased lower bowl tickets row H and row I aisle seats for two people.

I had great seats, and hearing the season ticket holders being in the back row made me feel guilty lol.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

                        Re: Grading IBA

                        Concession

B minus - I had a brisket sammich, wife had a pretzel, and a friend had nachos. Everything was fine, but nothing great. The prices were a bit much imo, especially the brisket sammich. You get more for less @ CKA.

                        Building Layout

B minus - We went up and the sign said section 220 go one way. It should have sent us the other way as we went 3/4 around the arena. Restroom access at half time wasn't bad though so that saved it from a C. They didn't do a great job of announcing the multiple exits -- my wife and I and 4 others found one no one was using and took the stairs right past a staircase full of people.

                        Seats

C - I was middle of the upper level but I got stuck at the Tulsa bench corner instead of half court where my CKA seats are. I had a similar height of a seat in Omaha last year so I was used to being above the scoreboard. The seats were cramped (poor guy behind me was hurting the whole game and tried to avoid kicking me constantly but still managed to knock me in the back of the head over and over again). I at least ended up with an isle seat but had I been crammed in the middle, I would have gone to the ends in the many empty seats.

I stopped on my way up and was really surprised how much of a difference a few rows makes there.

The student section seats on the floor looked awful -- in fact a few of the back rows were empty. I assume that is because you couldn't see anything on the flat there.

They need bleachers like CU has.

I would have loved one of those front row floor seats though. Omfg that would have been tight.

                        Scoreboard

F - So lacking in information. It really sucked having nowhere to look at to see who was in, how many points they had, how many fouls they had, and all that jazz. Unless I missed it, there were no screens giving stats either. Before the next game these issues need to be addressed.

                        Parking

B - I got close and traffic was no worse than CKA but at CKA I don't pay to park. So paying $10 to park sucked but once I don't mind.

                        Radio reception

F- Nothing inside the arena and I love to listen and watch. Combo the no radio with the no scoreboard and I was not very happy about that. Also in the reception family was cell phone reception. My Sprint phone couldn't carry a signal inside the building and I noticed some VZW people near me also had issues.

                        Other things
I was glad when the tech in the catwalk finally turned off the lights in my eyes.
Sounded like there almost was a fight in the concourse near section 220.
I could at least hear Don Hall for the first time ever.
When people in the bleacher seats learned they could stop the bleachers for good noise we finally got some good noise in there. Other then that, it was pretty quiet up top most of the game.

All and all, I won't mind a game there once a year. I'd rather it be someone that would pack the house. I'd like my season tickets to be $50 cheaper and just let me buy tickets so I could decide where I wanted to sit.

But if they did something stupid, like some stupid fat people that run a stupid hall of fame and do a stupid radio show here town want and bring half the games or god forbid all the games to IBA, I honestly will stop going.

Koch seats on row 11, IBA seats row EE (on floor 5 back). It was a nice place, shuttle system worked well. 14000 rockin' fans dt don't compare to the noise level that we would have had in Koch.
I'm glad to have had the opportunity. I can't believe there were no stats. No updates at break, and my phone wouldn't work in there.
Its a good place once a year. I wish it would have sold out. If you stayed home, you missed out!
I was glad to have a good opponent.

I don't see any reason for complaints about concourses, I thought they were plenty wide.

Oh and exiting the building was SO EASY, take the stairs everytime.

How much? I would have purchased better seats but I didn't just want to eat the two we had.
