At this point, let's plan on Toure' at point all year. Too much on the line this year for on the job training.

So who goes to the bench? How about Kyles and his 20 tonight along with some D. Or sit Toure and his 9 rebounds and solid play? All in the name of needing a pure point guard? Let's win games and see what shakes out in the meanwhile? I'm with ya Bad.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Its official finally, Toure' Murry is the point guard.HCGM gave JR and DW every opportunity to take control and run the team and they did to the best of their abilities.I guess their abilities wasn't up to coach standards.Toure' is not a bad fall back choice and thank god he can actually do it.He will only get better.

I feel that Rags will continue to get more minutes at point. We need him to step up and I feel he will have a better second half. I was disapointed in him a little last night though...I thought he passed up two open three pointers and was not looking to score.

Rag’s running of the offence isn't that bad. The problem is that he is a defensive liability. Once he can keep his man in front of him he’ll get more playing time. As for now, I more than fine with Murry & Kyles on the floor at the same time.If you're not going to go all the way, why go?

Speaking of passing up shots, if this hasn't already been touched on elsewhere, I was surprised DK hesitated on the 3 late cuz he had an great open look. That could have ended up being the difference. He was so hot and confident to that point. It was surprising he didn't let it fly and instead hesitated then double pumped it up there.
Oh well. Great win. Great game. Great venue. Great time to be a Shocker.

The PG situation is still developing, and I think Joe will continue to feel more comfortable. I'm hoping that getting into conference and dropping down a notch in opponent athleticism will speed/ease his transition.
I know there's way more to playing PG than stats, so don't bother flaming away on that. However, we're getting close to a point in the season where stats finally become statistically significant and can start to tell us something. Through the first 10 games:
Toure Murry - 259 minutes
Joe Ragland - 194 minutes
Toure Murry - 36 assists, or 5.6 per 40 minutes
Joe Ragland - 27 assists, or 5.6 per 40 minutes
Toure Murry - 28 turnovers, or 4.3 per 40 minutes
Joe Ragland - 10 turnovers, or 2.1 per 40 minutes
Toure Murry - 1.3 A/TO per 40 minutes
Joe Ragland - 2.7 A/TO per 40 minutes

Like I said, there's way more little decisions at PG than any other position that don't show up in the stat line, but I choose to believe (hope?) that Joe will continue to develop and that Toure gets more time at the 2.

I hope DWill continues to get his opportunities, grows, and gets his confidence back. However, in most Valley games, I expect a 3 man rotation at PG/SG seeing all three combinations. I think Joe will see more time in the future. TM and DK getting 28-30 minutes each, JRag seeing 20-24.

About the only time Joe and D-Will matched up very well with Tulsa's guards was when the smaller backup guard, Barrett Hunter, was in the game. Otherwise they were at a significant size disadvantage without a particularly compelling quickness offset.
There will no doubt be better match ups for them at various times during the MVC season.

Someone explain the love affair with TM at the 2G? After 2.5 years he shoots 40% from the field & 32% from 3. Folks, he is not an impressive shooter. We got all excited when as a freshman he made a couple of heroic shots at the end of games. Let's face it...he is not a shooter that puts a scare in anybody.
With that being said, he is a terrific overall player. Because he can shoot it some, handles the ball well, can get to the basket, has reasonable vision, plays good defense, he should be this teams PG going forward. Let's face it, in the type of motion offenses run these days, PG's get almost the same opportunity for shots as SG do. So why is it so important for some to want Murry to be a SG?
