  • Games of Interest - 12/20

    In the MVC:

Ill St at UNC Wilmington leading 25-19 at half
Bradley at home vs Jackson St
Creighton at home vs W. Ill.

Valley needs to go 3-0 tonight

    Other games:

Virginia struggling against a weak Norfork St 22-20 at half

UConn leads Coppin St 38-19 late in the 1st half

As a note: Florida lost in overtime at home to Jacksonville 71-68. Don't let Jacksonville's record of 7-3 fool you, their best win before tonight was Samford (not a weak Auburn because Samford beat them) and they've lost to St. Louis and Winthrop. Didn't K St lose to Florida?

Halftime: Bradley leads 32-20, Creighton leads in a barnburner 28-17.

Creighton should be destroying Western Illinois - they have lost to some bad teams like Oral Roberts and none of the teams they beat have a division 1 win.

Actually, W. Ill. lost by only 5 to ranked Missouri. Three of their wins were against DI - Savannah St., Prairie View AM, and Centenary - so they are DI in name only and your point is on target.

Those three teams combined are around 0-25 against division 1 competition. Its pointless to count the losses - they are just horrible.

Here's the deal...Creighton has a chance to be the second best team in the MVC. It will be a 3-team battle for number 2 (MSU, UNI). If CU, MSU & UNI are the best of the rest, and have looked less than stellar in noncon, the Shocks prospects looks great. There is still alot to prove for WSU on the road, but this is the year to own the road. As Ben Crenshaw once said "I have a feeling." I just hope it isn't that super burrito I had at dinner.

                Bradley wins 64-55.

                Creighton wins 60-47.

So, all five Shocker opponent teams win tonight, but NONE win well. The teams they defeated were weak and the margin of victory small compared to the competition.
