Example 1: P'Allen Stinnett. CU nearly had a player revolt because "different rules seemed to apply to different people".

Example 2: SIU. They had something like the 20th-rated recruiting class in the nation, but they were all hot shots who didn't want to get dirty, play hard D, or do other things that don't show on the scoreboard. A rercuiting class of 4 very talented and athletic players took a pretty good program from annual NCAA team to the abyss of the MVC cellar.

Great athleticism helps get PT, but hard work, discipline, and doing what the coach wants done is a major part of the formula. Those who earn PT get it. Those with great athleticism and talnet have to earn their time or teams self-destruct. Chris Lowery is learning that lesson the hard way - and it's probably going to cost him his coaching career.

So we can all agree that it bodes ill for any organization when the management is unable to extract quality work from the most talented employees. It either speaks to hiring or day to day management issues.

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on this issue. IMO (although arguable), recruiting, coaching and motivating student athletes is entirely different than hiring workforce employees.

BOBB, you’re still OK in my book.

Hey, there was a "doc' referenced as one of the free throw shooters last night at one of the media TO's (by the way whatever doc it was won 3-2). Was that SN "doc" or another?

Indeed, I haven't shot FTs at a Shocker game since the 90s. I lost in the finals TOTALLY because I was assigned what can only be described as today's gay yell leader. Every shot was followed by a 7 second plus rebounding effort.

I was able to only shoot about 8 free throws (making a disturbing low 5) whilst my competitor, given twice the rebounders, shot almost 20.

I am still bitter. The prize in those days (at least for this event) was 2 RTAF anywhere in the lower 48.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one thinking such thoughts.
