I needed some place to write this down, so I'll do it here. This is just for grins and giggles - I know RPI is meaningless at this time of the year, but I figured I'd check what a game with ChiSt does.

Prior to Chi St (per realtimerpi):
    RPI - 17
    SoS - 14

I know what other teams do also gets factored into this and that's exaggerated this time of the year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

      Kuchebag ?
In my section, three rows down, there was a kid with a KSU shirt on. No accounting for taste. If the kid wants to cheer for KSU and wear his shirt, I say fine -- but do it at KSU, not at a WSU game. Shame on the parents for not teaching their kid there is such a thing as sporting etiquette. I have never attended a KU game with any WSU gear on, and of course, would NEVER consider the reversal of that (and yes, I do cheer for KU as long as they are not playing WSU and as we know there is fat chance of that unless it just might happen in post season).

I disagree. You say he has made "some nice passes", but what about all the crap passes where he has turned the ball over or forced our guys to fight to keep it. He "hasn't been forceful enough" inside, yeah, I'll say. I can't believe a 7 footer can't get the ball in the basket against much shorter defenders when he is practically a hand's lenghth away from the rim. We need Garrett and he needs to step up NOW. He knows what he is expected to do, but so far is not doing it. He looks like he did early last year -- a kid who still hasn't grown into his body. Is he still growing? I don't know what happened over the summer, but he sure has digressed. I like GS and hope he gets it together soon.

I see we're all avoiding calling Garrett the f-word.

There is a difference between not playing well and not being able to play well.

Think it has moved to 25 after the game. Not too bad of a dip, but meaningless still because it is so early I suppose.

This is where I get my RPI info, but I'm not sure where they get it from..

Getting positive movement in Sagarin ratings. I noticed that SDSU is #5 on his list.

Garrett is a good kid, but he is at the age where he needs to man up. He is large, but he is not playing large. He could dominate, but apparently hasn't convinced himself of that. It seems like it is 95% mental, and its a real shame because he was almost there at the end of last season. I think he will come around, but I hope it's soon because we need his services now.

                    • There were a lot of things to like in last nights game:

-David Kyleswalker continued consistency on both ends of the floor.

-Demetric Williams looked much better w/ 4 assist and 2 turnovers. Still needs to cut down on the TO’s and get himself under control but the guy can flat out get to the basket and finish. Oh, and he’s also got a great stroke from the field. I would love to see him keep taking it to the rim and getting to the free throw line.

-First points by Richardson and Hamilton. Loved the strong dunk over a defender by Hamilton (or was it Richardson? Jk, but I do sometime have a tough time keeping the two separate for some reason). Richardson has a nice looking shot.

-Our reserves played much better all around. Granted it was against a poor opponent but that group needed solid minutes they can take build on for the game Saturday.

-Aaron Ellis continues to be a player I like this year. He rebounds, hustles, sets picks, and takes less ill advised shots than in the past. Even w/ the improved shot selection he somehow seems more aggressive on offense at times.

Now a few things that I didn’t like so much or think we could improve on:

-I’m tired of the cheers for Orukpe. The guy is an athletic 7 footer w/ a lot of potential and it took an interesting journey and 3 years to get here, I get it. But please at least wait until he does something productive to deliver the amounts of praise he receives. He practically gets a standing ovation anytime he checks into the game but David Kyles has a amazing stretch where he doesn’t miss from 3, gets 2 steals, 2 assists, and a monster block and he’s met by a smattering of seemingly indifferent applause when he sits on the bench. I thought our fans were supposed to be basketball savvy? I cheer for guys when they sit down after playing especially good minutes (offensively or defensively) and I always thought others do to…but maybe not.

-I agree w/ everything that’s been said about the 3 pt shot advertisement. I HATE this.

-Why do they always play a pump up song right before someone is to shoot free throws?

-What is going on w/ Stutz? I’m not giving up on him, but his production, confidence, and effectiveness has taken a big dip this year. Are we still looking at a possible red shirt season for him?

-Durley and Hatch need to figure out how to finish around the basket.

-I’d love to see more Blair and Ben Smith. These guys bring great energy and athleticism into the lineup along w/ solid offensive skills. Maybe it’s defense that is holding them back?

                      • That was Hamiltons 2nd basket as I believe he got a layup in against Chaminade.

Can't really argue with anything else you said.

                        • CONFIDENCE is paramount. Strangely, Kyles has found his, and Stutz's has vanished.

Stutz needs to improve. I still have confidence, but no way he red-shirts next year. If he was going to do it (without injury) this was his last chance IMO.

Durley needs to play more like a PF. Get some damn rebounds man! Can't argue with his ability to score. He is a poor man's Jamie Arnold (except Arnold could rebound).

Blair and Smith are GREAT off the bench! Fantastic bench energy. Both guys start for 7+ other Valley schools. Again, Ellis is having a nice, if not quiet, year.

Our wings (guard and forward) as a group are to be reconned with on any stage in the NCAA. Our PGs are comming along nicely.

I think Richardson and Hamilton are coming along as well. Isn't it grand that poor play from our 7 footer isn't required to have some success this year! Also nice that TR and JH aren't needed. In fact, there isn't even any available PT.

Lets beat SDSU and LSU and have a marvelous year!!!
