MWC seems to be a football focused league.
I agree. I was hoping for a C-USA break up and a new conference with most of the C-USA west plus additional schools (including us).

MWC was a football focused league. They were real close to BCS level, but that's gone. Yes, football is still king there, but maybe they're looking to just get stronger over all. They also took a hit in basketball losing Utah and BYU.

Great financially and more exposure and name recognition nationally. I just feel sorry for the fans and families who may not be able to travel to away games. Also, the smaller sports programs I'm sure are going to love the travel too.

All from forum BS so just people and their respective pipe dreams but I see a scenario being discussed that ucf will be the 18th team in BE if villinova declines moving from 1-aa to 1a football. Also usu fans think Hawaii is requesting that usu and utep get added to mwc as well thus making 12 teams.

This would mean conf USA losing 2 teams.... All pipe dream stuff but hey it's Monday and I'm bored.

I can't see the Softball or Tennis teams taking a couple vans to Storrs for midweek games.

They're going to be racking up the American Airlines frequent flyer miles pretty quickly.

Shoulda gone after TCU and tried to Get Arkansas from the SEC

I think the Big 12 is more focused on just surviving a few more years. They don't seem to have anybody with any vision to expand.

It will help the Eastern football schools who want to recruit in Texas. They'll guarantee a trip close to home every other year.

what does adding TCU do for the big 12 financially? they dont bring a new television market. they dont bring a new fan base. the big 12 already has the state of texas locked up. getting arkansas would be huge but why would arkansas leave the SEC?

the big 12 would be better off getting cincinnati, memphis, even air force just to pick up the media market which is where all the money is...

TCU makes 0 sense for the big 12...

So do we start sending contracts for a home vs home series?

They bring a top notch football program which in turn brings in a lot more money for the conference. Money is everything.

Your comments are strong as vinegar.

TCU in the Big 12 makes geographic sense.
TCU in the Big 12 makes rivalry sense.
TCU in the Big 12 makes fund raising sense.

So, maybe the Big 12 is not the best choice for TCU, but there is some merit in joining the Big 12.
