  • MVC Today (Sunday, 11/28)

    Illinois St vs Jax St
    CU vs NW

CU game is on Cox 2273 at 7:30pm Central tonight.

MVC RPI jumped nicely out of the teens to 8. But the MVC needs to continue to win especially any BCS or ranked teams to help get the MVC teams RPI down to more respective levels. This game for CU is a big one.

Creighton looks pretty weak overall. That's always fun.

All of those sCUm fans talking up Northwestern like they were a bigtime opponent are dumb. Northwestern is not very good. They play in a high school gym and have never.. NEVER been to the NCAA Tournament.

The way this game is going it just shows how weak the Valley is. Our second or third "best" team can't even get past a crappy Northwestern team.

        Way ta go BJ's.
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

          Was he injured?

Also, Creighton looks somewhat weak, but Lawson, Echineque and Chewbacca Jr. will be a handful on the interior.

No sane or even marginally intelligent person would talk up Northwestern.

They are terrible and I cannot believe that Creighton is losing to them. They better come back and win. So far, this is worse than Evansville losing to DePauw.

After watching a few minutes of this game, I'm sticking with my prediction tht we sweep them this year.

Only a Blowjay radio announcer would consider Northwestern, Nebraska, and St. Joseph's as a "touch stretch" coming up for sCUm.

                  Nice showing today BJ's.

Well, think about it for a minute....for that group of soft patsies (Creighton I mean), that might actually be a tough stretch.

Totally awful performance and effort from the Jays.

19% 3-point shooting for CU, including 0-11 in the second half.

I asked at the beginning of the year why anyone would pick CU to be good because they don't have anyone who can shoot the ball (aside from Wragge and Korver, who are defensive liabilities). It looks like they are hoping Manigat can help their shooting problems, but a true freshman at 6'1" 175lbs. is likely going to have some difficulties guarding people on the other end.

I don't see that Echenique helps enough because teams already have proven that you can pack it in against CU and they can't beat you. Even with focusing on Lawson and letting McDermott go 7 for 11 from the field, the NW defense could hold CU to 37.3% from the field.

Because you can pack in on Lawson, he is only shooting 39.3% from the field so far this year. To put that in perspective, the only player with a lower shooting percentage than that on WSU outside of Tyler Richardson and Derek Brown (with 3 shots between them) is Graham Hatch, who is shooting 37.5%, but that is on only 16 shots and he is shooting 42.9% from 3. Enchenique may get the benefit of some easy baskets playing alongside Lawson, like McDermott has, but you can't play all three together so Enchenique taking minutes alongside Lawson probably just lessens McDermott's production as he gets fewer of those minutes.

Excellent analysis. Add to that, they have no bench. McDermott is wearing out his first 5 right now and while GE is going to help, he's not going to help that much. If they have any injuries what so ever, they're toast.

If you made the same prediction about UNI, J.J. Clamdip would be very happy.

What if I told you the average number of fouls+turnovers for us for the season was 27.75?

And our team FT% was top 5 all time in the program?

I have @UNI as one of two losses in the Valley. I may have to think about that because to this point UNI looks suspect.

Feb. 12 in Frostbite Falls (aka Baja Canada) at 9:05 PM. Travel to a crappy place in the dead of winter - possibly sub-zero temps and playing late? The players from Texas, the Carolinas, and Nigeria may get a chill and never warm up again during the entire trip.
