      • Great effort by the Shockers, but the refs were UCONN homers.

        1. Blocking call on Durley at 13 minute mark in 2nd half should have been charging on Kemba Walker. That would have been Walker's 4th foul, and he would have been on the bench most of the rest of the half. It was a clear charging foul. Durley was set. He was not moving. The refs just didn't want to call a 4th foul on UCONN's star player with 13 minutes left in the 2nd half, after he sat out most of the first half with 2 fouls.

        2. Foul call on Gabe Blair at 5 minute mark in 2nd half was not a foul. Blair got all ball. We got the ball and were looking to go up the court. Instead, it's a foul call and Walker gets his two free throws.

        3. Reversal of out of bounds call at 5 minute mark in 2nd half. It was initially called in our favor, then reversed to UCONN. Hmm. Wonder why.

Bottom line, we would have won the game with fair officiating. Our guys played great. They hit shots when we needed them. Durley taking the charge on Walker at the 13 minute mark was a good play and it should have been called. That one's on the refs. We got hosed.

1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

            Excellent point.

Again, shooting aside, I think we look fantastic.

I see what you mean about Walker. There is noone on the team that is fast enough to guard him IMO. Thats just me.

I think I know what you were getting at here......thoughts?

So with that logic, then had we won, it would not have been considered a 'good win' since UCONN is a lower tier Big East team. That's great, the almighty WSU Shox who bring a wealth of experience and size can't even beat a young lower tier Big East team.

Anytime a "mid-major" team beats a mighty Big East team, it's a good win, no matter how crappy they are. But if we lose, and we did, then it's not a "good" loss thanks to UCONN being a team that won't rise to the top of the 30 team Big East.

This is just a loss. Not bad, not "good". Just a loss. Doesn't help us whatsoever.
Really? So the big Iowa win last year really helped our cause didn't it?
Comparing Iowa to UConn is laughable.
Exactly. There's a BIG difference in a mid level Big 10 team than a Mid level Big East team. The committee loves the Big East and any win against anyone in that conference is a "good" win. Even if they're 10th out of 16 teams.

really I mean what the hell diff does it make if you forfiet to Chaminade...
Then the shox would just be a lower mid-major that forfeited a game because they were pissed about a loss they blamed on the refs instead of figuring out how to get better from the loss.

                Would that be the difference?
I wouldn't really do it. I'm just pissed off.
I can see your point, but we just need to focus on finishing better. This team has a solid nucleus that can compete with anyone. Being able to finish, no matter the outside influences (officiating), will make us an excellent team in March.

He's just too slow to contribute against the athletes UCONN threw out there. He'll score 25 against Chaminade.

                      It was bad, really bad.

The bald official was HS quality at best. And that may be an insult to HS officials. (No offense Sub).

Why, in a tournament with this amount of talent, would the assignor use/allow a HS official to work?

He was clearly not suited to handle a game with the amount of players and athleticism present.

On the other hand, HCGM did not adjust to the flow (translated, Kemba Walker). Make someone, any one, maybe even the mascot beat you. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

                        • Blaming things on the refs is lame. By holy **** were they terrible.

                          • It is hard to adjust the flow when you get whistled for everything, including clean blocks.
