Could you change the * from meaning improved from previous game to maybe the Season total improved from previous game.

I just think its kinda silly that Brown's rating of -0.042 gives him an improved.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have him as improving when he goes from not playing to playing worse.

The fallicy of the Prouty?

I guess the fallacy is: We can have good Prouty numbers for a game, but if the other team plays better than we do, it doesn't mean much. If we played any other team with the numbers we had, we're probably winning by double digits.

Interesting. DWill plays 3 minutes, but looks like a hero and Rags plays 19, his shot is off but everything else is on and looks like a .... well rag.

Yeah, 1-3 from the field, 0-3 free throws. Prouty is all about shooting percentages.

We've had questions regarding the infleuence of the team winning percentage affects the Prouty Rating. We've also talked about how the team Prouty compares to the Individual Prouty. I wanted to test the Prouty conference wide on a team-by-team basis.

I also wanted to see what effect the winning percentage had on the values, so I recalculated using only the first three components (excluding the winning percentage) and divided by three instead of dividing by four. The results are shown in the table below.

Overall, the Prouty ratings correlate to team performance rather well. In this case of using team totals, the primary effect of eliminating the winning percentage is to squeeze the values into a smaller range, .322-.378 as compared to the real Prouty range of .316 - .486.

I've added the calculations for the individual players, again showing the real Prouty and the rating adjusted by eliminating the "winning percentage" portion of the formula and dividing by three instead of four.

On an individual basis, eliminating the 4th component raises the rating for those with fewer minutes played and raises the rating for those with more minujtes played. This is because the more minutes played adds more to the rating, whether the team did well in those minutes or poorly in those minutes.
