Ok, I defer. So long as "whoever is back" doesn't get eaten up time and again (thinking Galloway at the end of our last game).
More times than naught, in this scenerio, TM is going to be in close enough proximity to pick up Walker. And if not, as 22 states, another Shocker will pick him up and switch when appropriate.
Right, I get his point, and completely defer to it.

I am just skeered about the legendary 800 pound, 8 foot, 4 nostril, fire breathing, 40 point-per-game scoring Kemba Walker eating our other-than-Murry-PG up over and over on fast breaks and there is no set D (ie, no switch -- just one on ones with with Kemba Monster).

Along with being a Kembaphobe I'm also a germaphobe, so I just make irrational decisions when it comes to being punished by Kemba and germs.

If I keep pretending he is the biggest monster on the planet it will feel really good to me when he gets shut down a bit.

So, if Walker is dangerous in transition - who do you want on the court to run him down and swat the shot?

Let's see - (DK) who on the team (DK) can run really (DK) fast AND has great (DK) leaping ability and shot-blocking (DK) skills?

If you guessed David Kyles, you guessed right.

So, maybe 3G figures Kyles can knock maybe 4 - 6 points off of UConn's total by challenging Walker in transition. That's a player you want on the floor - so how do you get him on the court and still keep Murry (Mr. Everything) and Hatch (Mr. Hustle, whose "bad" game was 6 assists and the second-leading rebounder) on the court? You move Murry to PG, where he has significant experience.

There appear to be many, many reasons why Toure is getting time at PG right now - and all of them seem to revolve around improving WSU's chances of winning games.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

HCGM said on the coaches show the other night that he will start the guys that can win the game they are playing now and not worry about who should or will be starting in the MVC Tourney later in the year.

The size and depth we have affords him the luxury to start Murry at the point with other plays of equal size to play the 2-3 and guard Kemba when needed.

I agree with the previous post of seeing the genius of our coach... 8)

Can't wait for the game. Now I just have to figure out how to "work from home..." that day.

Hope somebody can be served crow come Monday. :goshocks:
Why were you trolling their board anyway?

I went to a KKK meeting yesterday and I was shocked, SHOCKED, at the racism.

I went through a bunch of these non conference boards to see if they were active for the "non conference forums" links.

Funny...ShockerFan2 was on the UConn board having some fun. They have some thin-skinned members too. I thought it was done in fun...nice job ShockerFan2.

They don't seem to be as informed about the competition as we do. One poster made a comment about the UConn/WSU game will go like their game vs. Vermont; might be close, but UConn will pull away in the second half due to their depth. "HELLO, MCFLY...IS ANYBODY HOME." There aren't many teams in the country with more depth at every position as us. Also, other UConn posters suggested that Donnell Beverly (6-4, G), Jamal Coombs-McDaniel (6-7, F) & Charles Okwandu (7-0, C) will struggle for time in the lineup. If that is the case, UConn has no depth...Interesting to see the different perspectives.

I think it just goes to show at this time of year most, if not all, teams are trying to find a consistent identity. Now it's time to play some basketball in Maui.
                :yahoo:

I stated this during the offseason:

Remember last year, Jamie Dixon (PITT) practically willed his young team to a victory over the Shocks. I'd put him in a very elite group of outstanding basketball coaches. I'd also put Jim Calhoun in that same group. Don't be shocked if Calhoun pulls out all the stops against WSU in an effort to advance to play MSU. This first round match-up is for blood. The Big East beasts will want to squash the small midmajor.

Many times, fans get caught up in only what their team brings to the table, and tend to forget that there's another heavy weight that wants to do everything possible to win.

I have every confidence in our coaches and players preparing for this event, but it's going to be a battle.

I agree it is gonna be a battle. I admit I sold Pitt pretty short last year (as did the rest of the country). I won't make the same mistake against UConn. ON PAPER we appear to have a very good chance. But the game isn't played on paper. Perhaps that is why I'm hesitant this year to predict a Shox victory. I learned my lesson last year. The Shox CAN win this game, but it's gonna be a tough one for sure.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
