    WSU -- 75
    TXSOUTH -- 56

Our defense improves as does the play of our point guards and we start to see more of the team that we all expect them to become.

They need to improve noticeably from the NU game, and I think they will. They still won't be where they will eventually be level wise, but getting closer.

I disagree about them being overwhelmed. That's when experience and 'training' will kick in--playing up to the level of their competition, and we will do both. You can bet the guys have been anticipating the UConn matchup as much if not more than we have been--and that's really saying something.

The Newman game left me with mixed reviews. Yes, our rebounding was solid as was our quality depth. Our new players look to contribute immediatly. EO had 11 rebounds and a couple of hoops. DK and Ben came in and gave us instant energy. Aaron Ellis looked solid. Durley should lead this team in drawing charges. Hatch-is-back. We need Durley, Stutz, Hatch, and Toure' to be our consistent leaders. Gabe will get well and be solid. Between DWill and Bugs, we will be finer than a frog hair at the point.

Yes, it is early, but Newman's guards were penetrating past us too often and our help defense seemed lethargic, especially in the first half. Next, can this team utilize our inside game to enhance our FG percentages? Our 3 point shooting and throws were lackluster, but will improve. Yes, we find a way to win most all of the gigs here at 21st and Hillside. However, the Shocks now have Junior and Senior leadership and must convert the close road losses into our fair share of wins. Stay tuned!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I hope Gabe is back in the mix for the Texas Southern game. Would sure like to see him get some PT before heading to Maui.

I think the boys come to play. They understand they don't have much time to prepare and get better before Maui. They will be focused and ready to go. First game jitters are out of the way:

                WSU - 83
                Tx Southern - 60

Let's hope a better all-around performance is demonstrated when it really counts. This is our only tune-up before the Big Show.

I'm gonna give the benefit of the doubt to the Shocks that they answer this call and take care of a SWAC school:

                  WSU - 78
                  TSU - 54
                  Deuces Valley.
                  ... No really, deuces.

                          This game could be ugly.

                          1) They had 4 players with over 30 minutes! (and a fifth player with 28 minutes -- depth, what depth?)

                          2) One of their key forwards had 10 turnovers against Drake

                          3) They don't appear to have an experienced center (they do have a 6'11 junior that only got 5 minutes last game)

Even if HC3G takes his foot off their throat (which he will), it could be ugly.

                          Shox: 78
                          TSU: 49

Against Newman, D Williams did not play the first half, and then struggled to kick start it in the second half, committing 3 fouls.

I expect a much larger contribution from him going forward. Settling down the point guard position will lead to a much more controlled offense/transition game, and should contribute to a more watchable/cleaner game from the Shocks.

This one could get ugly for the Tigers.

We won by over 30 last year. It won't be any closer this year.

According to DrakeNation, TSU's 6-8 PF Travele Jones, the SWAC preseason POY, missed the Drake game while "some clerical NCAA issues (were being) worked out."

Anybody know if he's back for this one?

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'
