  • WSU VS. TEXAS SOUTHERN TIGERS

Here's the deal. Let's get this party started like it's 1999. The Tigers have a couple of Seniors, Travele Jones and Junior Treasure that are solid players. However, look for the Shocks to win most of their home gigs this Season.

Didn't the party in 1999 suck?

Junior Treasure is no longer with the team. HC Tony Harvey showed him the door. They are still picked anywhere from 1st to 4th in the SWAC. Hopefully they will give the Shocks some decent competition before Maui.

Trevele Jones is all they have, although he is preseason POY in the SWAC. Tigers picked 5th behind Jackson St., Ark P/B, Alabama St. & Prairie View A & M. Probably won't be a great upgrade from Newman, but another chance for the Shocks to suit up and hammer on another uniform.

Sad to hear Newman's Bobby Wesley may be lost for the year after injuring a knee in their season opening win at Southwestern Oklahoma State last night. Good Luck to Wesley & the Jets.

They have a 6'7" PG transfer from Kentucky (Kevin Galloway), a 6'3" transfer from Texas (Harrison Smith) and a 6'8" 230 lb forward from Navarro College (Texas) (Keithrick Denson) that they are high on. They play Drake today, so we'll have a better idea how good they are.

Is that HCTH formally of KU?

No. Just went to the Texas Southern site and he was an assistant at Missouri. He helped recruit Rush and others there. Blue Ribbon seems to think he's a really good recruiter.

Actually SB brings up a valid point. 1999 was Not a Shocker highlight type Season. Thus, we must party like it was the 2005-2006 Season. The Shocks were MVC Champs at 14-4--26-9 overall, and a NCAA Sweet 16 Team.

I say party like it's 2010/2011. Let's up the bar and set a new standard.

Let's just hope our two PG's get their act together in this game as they are going to face some very stiff competition against their UCONN counterparts.

The Drake handled TSU fairly easily. It is more important we prepare for next Monday than count points, but I still want to see some fluidity and execution when it counts.

We beat them by 31 last year... and i think were better than that team.

I just don't see how this game is going to prepare us for the level of play that we will experience with UConn. I hope so, but we could be a little overwhelmed when the game with UConn gets going.

We had defensive lapses against Newman, and our offense was nothing to shout about.
