  • Scholarship Player Status - 2011 through 2015

I imagine I have an error someplace in this matrix.

Can Carl Hall swing from 4 to 3 or is he a straight 4?

I hope we have a 5 in our sights.

A nice, big, 5 man is a necessity for next recruiting class. Having two 7-footers in the program can't hurt when you are trying to pull in another big man. I'd love to see a parade of 7-footers through the program!

For the '12 campaign we're looking at

        PG - DWill/Cotton
        SG - Wessel/Cotton
        SF - Richardson
        PF - Hall/Hamilton/White
        C - Ehimen

With DWill, Ehimen and Hall all being SRs. PF wouldn't be a necessity but having someone there and possibly redshirting could be valuable.

With 5 'ships for '12 I'd bet we get a center. We have a lot of options and will be replacing a lot. You can bet we'll bring in a PG. Cotton can play there as well but you can never have too many. A SF would also be nice. Outside of that, they could probably use the other 2 however they want. Another 2/3 type or a couple of bigs and redshirting a few if need be.

It'll be interesting and fun to see how the class of '12 takes shape.

Thanks RDR. I was thinking of doing this to better visualize the 2011-12 team.

PG will also be a priority in the next class.

          From a depth chart view:

Center: Both Hall and White have played a lot of center and can back up EO, but looking for that next "big" man that we're getting use to will probably be at the front.

PF: On paper, good depth here.

SF: Depending on how Tyler comes along, I'm sure Murry/Kyles/Wessel would also be effective here. Beyond next year, depth could be a problem.

SG: Stacked for next year, but depending on what positions Cotton and Wessel develop into, another position to address.

PG: Unless Cotton can be effective here, another need.

Has PE stopped growing and what position is he projected to play in college? A 3 to 4?

That's where most see him. Does he see himself there or as a 3?

He doesn't have the range or quickness to be a 3. Unless he makes vast improvements here he will be a 4.

I know that. But that doesn't always stop someone from believing otherwise. If he thinks he's a 3 then he may end up at the school that will let him try and be a 3 even though most, from what I've read/heard, say he will be a 4.

HCGM: Hi Carl, we should would like having you join us in Wichita. We're going to be in the middle of something very special.

CH: I appreciate that Coach, but I feel confident there are going to be a whole lot of programs wanting my services by the time the season ends. You guys are doing great there, I'm just not sure you can go all the way.

HCGM: I understand your concerns, however, you're going to see just exactly how far we go this year, and then your senior season you're going to be joined by a certain high profile young man with the initials PE. We'd like you to consider diligently where you would like to see yourself.

CH: Thanks Coach. Can you tell me where I sign?

Let's hope PE is more grounded & selfless than that. It appears that he is a PF in body type & skill, with a slight tendency to mimic a 3 at times.
