This most likely means Aaron will play this year.

It eliminates an uncertainty for HCGM and his staff and they can now focus most of their energy on getting this year's team firing on all cylinders.

That's right, I forgot since he's not a 1st year player that playing in the Newman game removed his redshirt option.

May I make a gesticulation? When Sub is not worried, and Trop is a happy camper, then that means Shocker zealots can party like it is 1999 BAY-BAY!!!!!!!

Actually, playing in the scrimmage, assuming he did play, removed the possibility of a redshirt, unless he were to be injured before playing the 20% of the games that would allow him to be considered for a medical redshirt. I am NOT predicting and certainly NOT hoping for that, just explaining potentialities.

You can play in exibition games and still redshirt.

*sigh*....only if you are a first year player. Ellis is not a first year player...thus he can't redshirt because he played in the exhibition.

•I was incorrect about redshirts playing in exhibition games in a story earlier this week. Only first-year players (freshmen and juco transfers) can play in scrimmages and exhibitions without burning a redshirt year. Returners, such as Aaron Ellis, cannot. I asked, but I didn’t do a good job clarifying my question. I also didn’t ask the right person. WSU associate athletic director Korey Torgerson set me straight. Here’s the rule: During a student-athlete’s initial year of enrollment at the certifying institution, he or she may compete in preseason exhibition contests and preseason practice scrimmages (as permitted in the particular sport per Bylaw 17) without counting such competition as a season of competition. An alert reader alerted me to my mistake, so thanks. With the injuries to Blair and Jerome Hamilton, Ellis’ status probably became a moot point. He played and, barring something unexpected, won’t redshirt.

                            Carl Hall

I was at the Multi-purpose facility at the Koch arena back in late Aug to watch an unsupervised practice when Carl Hall made his recruiting visit here. I knew that that the WSU coaching staff really wanted this guy and was disappointed when it sounded like he had decided to go elsewhere. It's great to see he decided to sign with WSU!
