I don't think a team without the services of Gabe Blair for the whole game or Demitric Williams for a half is actually the team we've been striving for, although Shocks still should have no problem handling Newman.
K-State beat Newman 83-56 and did not shoot the ball paricularyly well. KSU shot 40% from the field (including 8-25 from behind the arc) and they were a lousy 21-40 from the free throw line. Hopefully, the Shocks won't miss 60 shots in the game like KSU did.
What I want to see us do is play outstanding defense and dominate the boards. The offense may be a little behind the defense at this point, but I would like to see an unselfish team-oriented style of play with solid decision making whether on the run or in the half-court.
Marshall teams don't run up the score on undermanned opponents (one reason, I believe, that Coach was PO'd at Altman for working in an alley oop late against a WSU team when the outcome was already decided in Creighton's favor.. run away, Dana.. run away). :-x
I'll go with Wichita State by 14+, and they just break 80.
North Wichita - 82
West Wichita - 67 (Mason Felter with 12 pts)
I'm going off memory, but it didn't seem like Felter played much against K-State last week. You would think he would be there new Ryan Bradley.
He played a goodly amount but seemed to have anger management issues. Threw a lot of elbows and some hard fouls.
Predicting exhibition scores is tough. Frank had all kinds of weird combinations on the floor and experimented a lot. Also ran very vanilla sets. I would imagine Marshall will so the same.
