I think Marshall is estatic about the prospect of Murry and Kyles on the floor together,he's never hesitated putting those guys on the floor together even as freshmen. The more he see of Murry & Kyles the more it will grow on him especially if they're handling the ball efficiently, and of course defensively wsu go to another level.Honestly we've all been waiting for this DK moment.
Who wouldn't want to start? Who does he replace...Hatch? Not a chance. He certainly won't replace a point guard. Now, during the course of the game I would like to see, and I think we will, Murry & Kyles on the court at the same time.

i think TM plays key minutes at the point for us all year. not that the other guys arent capable. TM is just as capable and it might be a better overall lineup if DK or BS are in there

Bsm, are you referring to the Coaches Show, or something HCGM said elsewhere?

More than overnight. Did Clevin Hannah hit the ground running? Don't think so. I'm just saying, take some deep breaths and allow this team to take shape at all positions, especially at point guard. Someone asked earlier in the thread about Toure' starting vs. TSU. No he won't start at PG unless circumstances like injury, sickness or descipline intervene. Starting Toure' at point would send a message to the team I don't think would be healthy, or they could recover from We are going to take a punch or two early in the season at the point. It will be a strength by conference time.
What does this knucklehead know...

Thank goodness I don't coach this team. Toure' at the point & Kyles at the 2 worked like they've been doing it for a long time. I hate to throw myself under the bus, but potentially this 3-guard lineup (Murry, Kyles, Hatch) looks good on paper and on the hardwood.

The whole-sale substitution pattern (I hate to say "like Creighton") is interesting. The "second-string" backcourt is suspect however. It will be interesting to see if HCGM goes with this more than just Maui. Nice job tonight Shockers!!! Oh, by the way, the last couple of minutes of the first half EO was worth the price of admission.

It's hard to imagine who sits if only 8 play.

If he's talking "2nd half" crunch time ......I can see Aaron (based on history) and Ehimen (can't shoot FTs) left out.

I just can't see any scenario where Toure', Joe, Demetric, JT, Garrett, David, Graham, Ben and Gabe aren't all getting meaningful minutes.
If that is what he said then the major contributors on this team, at least for now, are solidifying in CGM’s mind.

I don’t like the prospect of TM getting big minutes at point, at all – obviously he is not a true PG. He fine in spurts but I would rather have the team exploit his talents at SG. But I am not the coach and I don’t watch the practices.
Joe and Ben just have to adjust to the speed from JUCO. Once they do that, it will all settle in.

JRag's and Ben's turnovers appeared to me to just be typical JUCO transition player type turnovers. Telegraphed passes on tight angles that more experienced four year players will anticipate, whereas JUCO players weren't experienced enough to anticipate them. So those passes work at two year schools, but not against four year schools.

That's a good thing, it just means getting used to the speed and quicker passes (before the angle is cut off). At least we weren't seeing lots of fundamentally stupid passes or ball handling turnovers from JRag, which is a much more troubling sign.

Unfortunately they don't have the luxury of getting solid D1 experience, other than tonight, before the big game at UConn.

Fortunately DWill _does_ have that experience, and proved he can handle it nicely last year. If DWill can keep the turnovers down to a minimum tonight and just let the game come to him, it bodes well. If not, Maui may not be as kind to us as we hoped.

I hope we get to see Murry do what Murry does best, which is not run the point.
I love Murry at the pg.He is what you call a throwback guard, back in the day we just called them guards everybody could handle, pass, shoot, and defend.Who gives us the best chance to win is the question.Talent is a luxury and with DK coming on you've got to find a place on the floor for him but Murry is a luxury also and been tried by the fire ,you need him on the floor.Plus it takes pressure off Ragland and Williams to be great right now.I think GM was playing his hand close to his chest and had this in mind all along.Give Murry a chance to become more comfortable, PG was a natural progression for him.Triple Double waiting to happen.

I understand Murry and Kyles played well together last night but one game does not transform Murry into the next Walt Clyde Frazier (speaking of throwback guards).

As for Kyles, I really like the kid, but he has a long way to go. He has to prove he will contribute on a consistent basis all year.

Yes, one thing about Murry playing PG is it appears to put our best defensive guard on UConn's best offensive weapon. Correct me if I am wrong, but Johnson-Danner's and Galloway's points came primarily against JRag and DWill? With Murry running the point most of the first half, we had a 12 point lead going into the locker room.

I think it goes to show why Shockernetters, like me, that have never even attended a single practice are just speculating wildly at what the best line-ups are -- without a single shred of evidence other than a single game against Newman.

                              In HC3GM we trust.

Let's hope that Vermont plays respectably against UConn tonight.

Maggie now that was a guard. It would be something if he could progress to be like the SIU great.
