The two main things that coach talked about working on with EO was catching the ball cleanly in the post and free throw shooting.

Coach said that with his strength, EO is already able to establish the best post position on the team, and if he is able to catch the entry pass cleanly, he is hard to defend that close to the basket. Once he moves away from the basket he is far less effective. Right now the staff is not working too much on developing his game away from the basket, but playing to his strengths by making him as effective as possible posting up deep, catching the ball, and dunking. Developing the rest of his offensive game will come over time after he establishes himself as a threat down low.

Coach also mentioned that EO's large hands make it hard for him to get good rotation on his free throw shots. They are working on shortening his stroke from the line, trusting his form, and snapping the wrists to get some rotation and a soft bounce.

It just goes to show you that if all of the cards are played right, EO will be one smart but wealthy individual in a few years.

I hope Gabe is ready to go at least by the time we play Texas Southern. He is an absolute necessity when we play UConn. I have a few reservations about whether we will really be ready for UConn with only an exhibition and a game under our belts before we play UConn.

UConn is going to bring size and intensity that we may not quite be prepared for at that time. I hope we are, but our guys are going to have to gear up when they play UConn.

PS on Shockwaves said Ellis can play against Newman and still be able to redshirt. This article says that's not the case. Please don't click on it if you don't want to read about KU.

It's seems rather difficult to find the info directly from the NCAA.

LAWRENCE -- You know you've got some serious depth when the guy talking the most trash in practice might not even play this season. "Travis, Travis, Travis," Sherron Collins said, speaking of Travi…

More support for allowing only Freshmen to participate in exhibitiongames and still redshirt.

Okay - so is Marshall wrong when he says Ellis can play in tonight's game and still redshirt? Seems to be conflicting thoughts on this.

exhibition contests and preseason practice scrimmages (as permitted in the particular sport per Bylaw 17)
without counting such competition as a season of competition. (Revised: 5/9/06)

I read it a, If Ellis participated against Denver, he is not redshirting this year. If he didn't and he participates tonight, he is not redshirting this year.
