  • The big push

Plus we're one of three "others to watch" in this article on the nation's best frontcourts. (and they didn't list Ehimen in that one)

Predicting the best frontcourts in the nation before a season can be tougher than correctly forecasting the stock market. Most of college basketball’s top big men turn pro after only a year or two, so it’s tough to find frontcourts that combine experience and star power. You have to try to decide which freshmen will live up to expectations or which long-range projects will show the greatest improvement.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

I can't wait for the season to start after reading this. We are just gonna bully some teams inside.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Speaking of UCONN, here's an article from Yahoo sports:

I noticed they put San Diego State at #9.

That might be an interesting game.

Good thing my tickets arrived today!!!

UConn or bust. It's time to announce our presence with authority. And I don't mean Nook LaLoosh.

I think WSU's frontcourt will get more respect by the end of the year than they're getting in pre-season.

Both Stutz and Durley are going to demand a double when they get the ball. That's what the S16 team had up front. Both Wilson and Miller had to be doubled low, which left Ogirri open.

This team may not have the outside touch Ogirri had, but if Stutz and Durley are both pulling an extra defender when they get the ball, Hatch and Murry are going to be stats fillers.

Let an opponent drop their frontcourt defense even an inch when Blair comes in. Please, let them. Blair could use some offensive numbers and he will get them if he's not doubled low or prevented from driving to the hoop.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

...or if the double with their bigs, either Durley or Stutz will be open...

I would expect to see lots of zone this year...but I think we can handle it.

Believe it or not, my largest fear for our two big guys are the several small guys in the league. I know of three post players (most on this board know at least two) who have had their ACL damaged by a small guard boxing out in the paint, either in practice or in a game. Just think about the height matchup of a small guard's rear end propelling backwards into a 7'er's middle part of the leg. The forces experienced by the knee joint are tremendous.

So let's not always worry about the other tall guys in the league who might block a shot or two of GS or EO, but pray that they stay safe against the short guards who could spoil our big's season.

Agreed, Aargh. We will really miss Gabe Blair next year. He is THE X-factor off the bench. :-x
