  • Gratz to Clevin!!!

Didn't see this posted...if it is I will delete it.

But Congrats to Clevin for being selected 5th round for the NBA-D League. Here is a tweet from Coach Jans:

coachchrisjans: A big Congrats to former Shocker Clevin Hannah on being selected in the 5th round of the NBAD-League by the Rio Grande Vipers...very proud!!
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

    Congrats Clevin!

    Here's a link to the 2010 D-League draft results:

The team that drafted Clevin also took UAB's Robert Vaden with their 1st Round pick. As many of you will recall, Vaden scored 23 points against us in Dec. '07 on a night that blizzard-like conditions could not stop the masses from journeying to Koch Arena.

Booker Woodfox was taken in the 6th Round by the Texas Legends.

Will not forget that anytime soon. If you remember, that evening was actually beautiful as the storm was over.

Shocker fans made a big impression on new HCGM that evening. He was beside himself, both in public and private, that so many of the fans would plow through and get to the game. He was essentially stuck at the Chuck.

Fun night. Vaden was a player. His coach was a lunatic.

That just reminded me ... how come we have stopped playing semi-pro teams as exhibitions? You guys like playing Newman better, or the semi-pro players?

Newman!!! The semi-pro teams ran little offense. They were a little out of shape and played very physical. Alot of chances for injury there. I'm all for playing the local teams and letting them give it a go against the next level of competition, even if they aren't as long or strong.

I agree. I think that we benefit a lot more from playing a team that is actually running organized offense and defense. Plus, those semi-pro teams usually are on long road trips so by the time they play you, their legs are often pretty worn down, which negates some of the talent advantage over teams like Newman.

A little OT, but I'd like to see Wichita try and get an NBAD franchise.

Congrats to Clevin. Keep working hard, and play basketball as long as you possibly can.

Wichita is a one-trick basketball town. Hopefully WSU can be a developmental team of its own.

Be nice, Doc. What did you want him to do -- hand the ball to the ref and say: "Here, we don't deserve this much time"?

Doc, I agree with many, many things you post, but on this I have to disagree. The decision on the game was not left up to Woodfox. I don't like CU anymore than most WSU fans, but Woodfox was a player in the game -- he did what he was supposed to do -- he played until the buzzer went off. Truth be told, if the tables had been turned, we would have taken the shot and the win too.

I was joking anyway. Other than wearing a bj uni, I have nothing against BW.

I think you are taking it more serious than it is, his comment is just a "tongue in cheek" comment.

Well at least I took that way and laughed.

Doc -- I take everything you say seriously. Considering the reaction of SNetters when the game actually happened, and the fact that the "1.9" is still being brought up in postings, I don't think it was such a stretch to think you (being the consummate WSU fan you are) might still be smarting from it. There are many times I, for one, cannot ascertain what is said here with a wink and what is said with purpose.
