  • Luxury of Depth

This is the operative phrase thrown around these days. With 5 sr ,5 jr ,2 soph, and a couple of redshirt fr on board makes for some sprited practice sessions. For GM this is the first time he can truely look down his bench and feel confident in everybody being able to compete at a high level.Quality at every position is how you draw it up,now comes the hard part, putting it all together to have a tremendous season.

It's actually only 4 seniors, but you are correct that we are deep and experienced!

The senior class is very mature and experienced:

Hatch, 3 years DI, 23 years old
    Ellis, 3 years DI, 21
Blair, 3 years DI, 22 w/ a RS Transfer year
    Durley, 3 years DI, 22 w/ a RS year

Juniors are more average in age and experience:

    Ragland, JC transfer
Murry and Kyles, 20 years old
    Smith, JC transfer
    Stutz, 20 years old

    Sophomores:

    Williams, 1 year DI, 19
Orukpe, zero years DI, 1 year JC, 21 years old

    Freshman:

    Both red-shirted...

This is all well and nice, and I am looking forward to the season, but it only matters if they can win, especially on the road. There will be teams in the MVC that will prove to be better than what they were rated in the preseason, and some that probably won't live up to the hype.

Our team still has to gel as a team to have a great season.

We have to score the ball.

With 2 new point guards, I fear the half-court offense will struggle some in the beginning.

I hope HCGM uses the competitive advantage we have (depth and athleticism) to run people out of the gym.

DWill was Hannah's backup last year so he's not new and he was showing growth at end of last year. Ragland might have a little potential after winning first team JCAA honors last year. There are a few other player that could step in and play at little at point if needed.

worst case scenario, Murry runs the point. Not a bad 3rd option.
