  • Bad Boy Perkins could get his hands slapped -- or more

Former Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins faces a state ethics complaint. He is accused of accepting exercise equipment from a now-defunct company and receiving physical therapy from the university's sports medicine department in 2005.

    The brief article mentions

receiving physical therapy from the university's sports medicine department
Out of curiosity, why would it be an ethics violation to get therapy from the university you work for? Even if that therapy was free, I don't understand.

      Maybe that included un-prescribed pain-killers?

I am going to assume he had a fairly decent medical plan to cover treatment such as this. Also, if he was being treated by the university staff, he was most likely taking time away from a student athlete. Even if he didn't have medical coverage, with the salary he was making he could have gone anywhere for treatment. Besides, if he was that strapped for cash, he could have sold a few extra football tickets. ;-)
