I interpreted the "elsewhere" comment as in backing up a different starter.
I didn't mean they should leave WSU. I might have worded it better. We just have so much quality depth that there aren't enough basketball to go around.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=5685259 It says right next to the Valley links that Southern Illinois could make a top 4 run in the Valley. Does anybody take this seriously? I didn't think they were going to be very good with all of the problems they have been having lately.

Brand Name will do a lot for you. Most of the posters on Salukitalk think they are going to finish 6th-8th this year.

Maybe if Kevin Dillard and Anthony Booker didn't bolt. The puppies had 1 player graduate and 4 elect not to return. What does that say about Lowery's position among the SIU faithful? They will have a solid frontcourt with Fay and Teague, but alot of ????'s in the backcourt.

On MVCfans.com, a poll was taken, and SIU came in in 9th place. Top 4, I don't think so.

Lowery is a one-trick coach. that trick is absolute, total, physical defense. When he signs players who want to score some points and don't have a work ethic like Paul Miller, his teams self-destruct.

JuCo guys aren't known for playing D. I can't imagine a worse situation than SIU is in. Teaching JuCo guys to play SIU D is about the worst possible situation for Lowery.

At least he can end player defections by recruiting JuCos. They only have to deal with Lowery for two years and only learn they don't want to do that during the first year. It's a lot harder for Sr's to trfr than it is for So's.

Blue Ribbon just lost a lot of respect in my book.

That was one of the more absurd predictions out there that I've seen in a while.
                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

I believe that snippet from Blue Ribbon was a paraphrase from Lowery. He's blowing smoke to try and get some excitement into the fan base.

"If the newcomers play like he hopes, the Salukis can make a run at the top four in the Missouri Valley..."
That is a snippet from the article. Unless you read the article you don't know who "he" is.

I'm with Royal - I think they;re talking about Lowery and not what some writer at ESPN thinks.

You gotta know a program is down when it's the COACH who hopes the players he recruited work out the way he thinks they might so his team can make a run at top 4 in the Valley. That's coach speak for "We really suck this year".
