  • Blue Ribbon Yearbook Previews

Just a heads up that ESPN Insider has the Blue Ribbon Yearbook Previews on all the Valley teams. I don't think I'm allowed to copy the article here and unless you are an Insider, you won't be able to access it. I think it's worth the read on each of the Valley teams.

In case I'm wrong about you being able to access it, here is the link on WSU's writeup.

Blue Ribbon Yearbook previews the 2010-11 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.

"As a coach, you want to go to the NCAA Tournament," Marshall said. "The kids want to go to the NCAA Tournament. It was disappointing. We have to get back to the point where [the MVC is] a multiple-bid league, which I think we should be.

Has anyone ever heard Marshall address any specifics of how he would get the league back to being a multiple-bid league (i.e. "If I were commissioner, I would . . .)?

How we get a B+ in depth is a mystery to me. We have a sixth man in Blair that coach is talking about having all conference hopes this year! We have Kyles, EO, Smith, Williams, and Ellis. That has got to be an A bench.

Reading that write up gets me all excited! We are loaded with Talent! I hope we can find playing time for everyone.

I wonder if there is a program in the entire country that is considering reshirting a player that has started 55 games in his career because they are struggling to find minutes for him.

Given starter minutes in at least 10-15 smaller conferences, David Kyles is a 1st team all conference player.

Depth, compared to all but the most elite teams in the country, has to be an A.

So compared to even the most elite teams would that make it a B+?

Accurate info on all players. I was surprised there wasn't more info on Smith.

We are just so deep. If he were with any other Valley team, there were be more about him.

It all would depend on what kind of bell curve grading you are using. I am happy to admit that a team like Duke for instance, that has 4 McDs on the bench, has better depth. I don't concede that there are more than 10-15 of those type programs, if that.

I'd take my chances in Valley play with Blair/Ellis/Orukpe (pick two), Kyles, Demetric Williams and a player to be named later that I haven't seen (Smith/Richardson) as a starting five. That starting lineup would be a top four finish in the Valley right now. I know it's the Valley and I know we're going to lose some games we shouldn't, and I know that blowouts are hard to come by, but we should flat out destroy people this year. Stutz, Durley, Hatch, Murry and Ragland-who I haven't seen play, but has to be good to play in front of Demetric-is a line up that isn't even fair. I can't imagine losing a game at the Chuck. That's even IF that is the starting lineup? Could go Stutz, Durley, Kyles/Durley, Blair, Hatch? I'm rambling, but I can't help it! I am geeked for this season to get started.
