Shocker Madness?

Here's the deal. Tonight is THE Night the black and gold curtains rise for a sneak-peak of our beloved Shocks. The anticipations are off the charts. When was the last time all the Publications ranked us to win the Valley? Even before our Sweet 16 Season, that was not the case. Were we ranked 5th that year preseason in the Valley???????
We now have our Script from the Good Doc who said "We are in for a treat and the guys look awesome." The Sub is not worried. EO is finally eligible to swat some opponents shots into the cheap seats. It is always great to have Aargh on our side. Let's hope Rosewood gets NO stinkin stale nacho's at the confession stand. WILL THE PREACHER PORK CHOP 'HAPPEN BY' TO TELL OUR FOES TO SHUT THEIR PIE HOLE? Tyrone Shoelace will be evaluating the cross-over dribbles of our players since he invented the move? TSK TSK TSK.
Let's hope this squad will mesh together because the 'quality depth' is among the very best ever here. Will Durley, Hatch, and Toure' be our leaders? Can Stutz keep improving in leaps and bounds? Would it not be superb to see The Gabe and Kyles have banner years? Williams and Rags will provide high octane energy levels and quick on quickness. I hope AE does NOT redshirt. I want us to throw everything at our opponents but the kitchen sink. Ben Smith will provide points and can sky high. Tyler and Jerome will be on a learning curve and I am glad to have them aboard.
Tonight will be the beginning of a very fun Season. Can these Shocks beat teams like Tulsa or UConn? Will we win the Valley and Dance with the Stars in March? Just how improved will we be on defense? Tonight, we get a glimpse of things to come. How long have we been pointing to this very Season as being a banner Shock Season here on SN? Stay tuned because we are in for an thrilling Season and it will be grand to partake together the 2010-2011 Shocks. See you there at 21st and Hillside!!!!!!!Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

It will be interesting to see if Shocker Fans respond to the pre-season hype and optimism by actually venturing out to Koch Arena this evening and checking out the action.
I certainly will be (from Cancer Walk to Shocker Volleyball to Shocker Madness) and it would be nice to see more than a half full Koch Arena for a change.
I would also encourage your come and and support the Volleyball team. With the exception of bowling (if you want to count that) the Volleyball program has been the Shockers most successful program in our aresenal of sports in recent years. Over the past 6 seasons they are 161-31 and have been to 4 NCAA Tournaments never losing in the 1st round. (Should have been 5 if you remember 2005). Even if you don't like Volleyball or women's sports this would be a good opportunity to acknowledge the program's success with your personal attendance.
It will get your juices flowing for what should be a fun night opening the wrappers in the basketball candy store. It is looking like the candy will be very sweet this year. (Hopefully, at least Sweet 16 kind of sweet).
The Lady Shocks are also an up and coming group.

Most of the ‘older farts’ only show up to 'real games'… and we don’t have a ‘youthful’ enough student body to fill Koch arena. [/quote]
Here we go again complaining about the perceived "gender" problem. I guess it all depends on what you term "older farts". I plan on being there and haven't missed one for quite some time.

I’m not sure we’d fill the place if we were preseason #1 with 5 first round NBA picks. It is what it is. Oh, I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer; however it seems each time I come away from Shocker Madness feeling somewhat unfulfilled. Hopefully tonight would have been different… unfortunately, I’ll have to miss my second straight Madness… and I’m mad as hell about it!

Here we go AGAIN. Someone complaining about the perceived gender problem. I guess it all depends on what you term "older farts." How about working on the students, or the 30 or 40 somethings. And for someone who has missed the last two madness nights, I'm not sure you have any room to complain. I'm most likely in that "older farts" groups and I haven't missed a Shocker Madness for quite some time. I will be there tonight. Sorry you will miss it.

Even with a preseason top 5 team I noticed they only drew 5k up in the lil' apple.
Anyone know if they're still planning on having the kids carnival? I have not seen any mention of it. My 4 year old really wants to know if he can jump with Wushock on the moonwalk.

I'm quite sure that I also qualify as an "old fart".
No doubt there are the "corporate" and "socialite" sectors of the season ticket holder base that will not show (some old and some not so old). OTOH, we have the hoi polloi (common folk) who may not have season tickets or who don't get to see many games in person that can actually make for an even better than normal crowd together with the die hards. (I refer you to the Florida State game). It is also a difficult economy so free entertainment can be a plus in such circumstances.
Hoping for a large turn-out.

Ok so I have a request for any farts that are going tonight. Our family pictures just got bumped back from 1-2 to 4-5 so I won't be able to go and get a basketball autographed.
I know this is late notice and I won't get my hopes up but if someone were to happen to get a basketball signed by the team I would totally pay for the cost of the ball from the store and $30.
If not, ok. I was ready to roll for this but not so much now.
Ok, ok, back to farting.
