But are they the kind of fans that will be willing to shell out big money in the future to buy the tickets needed to carry the program? We definitely need a lot more hard-core, young, fans coming up through the ranks.

I hope they move to D2 that might be the only way we can beat them on a regular basis.Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

During their biggest ride in their program's history we have managed to split the regular season series each of the last two years with them, one of those being a couple points away from a 3-1 lead. Not to mention one of those wins was during one of our down years.
I'm also pretty sure the overall head-to-head is very close, with UNI with a slight advantage. But overall and recently during UNI's glory run, we have held decent.
I wouldn't say they have "owned" us or anything.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

If the younger people in Wichita can get a job here will have a lot to do with it. Jobs in Wichita are not easy to come by, a good paying job that is. My son recently had to move to Georgia because he could not find a job here after many months of searching.
Outsourcing is taking the 'working engine' of our country away. Isn't Cessna getting ready to strike? USA products are getting priced right out of the Global Marketplace.
And I think the MVC should position itself to bring someone to replace UNI in the future, Tulsa, St. Louis, etc.. In fact, I would like to see the MVC expand to 12 teams.

If they didn't, it's made fairly clear that D-2 is not an option. There is no way we would be self supporting at that level. It's D-1 or nothing for UNI.
What exactly is that proposal?

I believe they are changing how scholarship money is counted (to match what Iowa and Iowa State are already doing). In addition, they plan to play a second FBS football game in 2013 or 2014.
The full report is here (UNI's proposal starts on page 6): http://www.regents.iowa.gov/Meetings...910_ITEM11.pdf

We are talking about Northern Iowa, not North Carolina or some other traditional powerhouse.
It's Nothern Freeking Iowa guys!
Look what they spend on their program, look at what they pay their coach we ought to be killing them every time the Shox step on the floor against them.
Holding our own?
That is not good enough for me.Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!
