  • Pick the Valley's POY

    WSU is favored to win the Valley. That means a WSU player is likely to be POY.

    But which one?
    The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
    We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    I will be surprised if we have a player, who averages in the 16-18 point range.

    We will be well balanced.

    Scorers usually grab the attention of voters.

      No, the league champion gets the attention of the voters when it comes to POY.

          I voted for non-WSU player, but I think Stutz will be our best performer in the Stat category. I expect him to really step up the rebounds and pass JT in scoring. He will go to the line more this year and he hits a ton of FTs. The remainder of the Shocker front line will wear down the opponent and allow GS to be well rested and have his way with the opponent. I look for 13 points and 7.5 rpg. Add in 1.5 blocks and a Valley championship and he's the guy.

            Here is a crumb; Garrett is HUGE.
            And the soft parts of him are no more.

              I think Toure, Stutz, JT and Kyles could all just unload their weapons this year and we could be scary. I voted for Toure just because I think he will break out completely and take it on his shoulders and I don't think he will be stopped. Our point guards will pave the way for everyone. There wont be one person to stop. Everyone is a threat.

                I think we win the Valley and if voting holds to form a WSU player gets POY. I'm having a hard deciding just which player. If a defense decides to target one or two players they could be in for a long night.

                  Hopefully, it will be a season where we do win the title, but there is no clear front runner for player of the year because of our depth and balance. ( I voted for J.T., though)

                    But the last few years those players haven't nabbed POY unless thy were also on the Valley's top team.

                      I was also thinking the player would have to have a higher point average, but when Paul Miller was POY he only averaged 13.1 points per game.

                        I think 2 players have been overlooked that are possibilities;

                        Demetric 'Big D' Williams - came on strong last 5-10 games last year, should be set for a well seasoned year this year. He averaged over 16 ppg as a Senior in High School, and now is settled in to D-1 ball. He seems to learn pretty fast, and has the talent to get there.

                        Joe 'Rags' Ragland - A top performer in Juco, outstanding shooter and drives real good to the basket. He may well be one of the big surprises in the conference this year.
