  • The media blackout...

I can't remember a season when information on the basketball team was so hard to come by? I seems that Marshall is definately keeping things under wraps. I wonder if he's withholding information from everyone or just punishing the Eagle for having such a liberal slant to their news and reporting? Had to throw that in for fun.

I can't wait for the information spigot to start to open!

Probably has the full court press on finding opponents for this year.

This time of year has always been the slowest for information.

As I recall, this is the time when there can be individual workouts. Those are closed and Marshall (or any other smart coach) isn't going to report or allow others to report on how those are going.

Over the summer we can get reports on pickup games. Once classes start, there's an absolute lack of information until practices start. Practices are generally closed and any information is limited and difficult to get.

The next good sources of info will be an article or two by Suellentrop and Shocker Madness. that will be about 3 pieces of useful info between now and the first exhibition game. It's like this about every year - even when Turgeon was here. It's not just Marshall's policy.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I'll count the releasing of the schedule as a pretty nice piece of information between now and October... assuming it gets released before October..
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

Sometimes it is better to keep quiet. At least then you can't say anything stupid.

KSU President Schulz: "I misjudged the passion that our people have toward the success of our athletic program. Had we not been able to stay in the Big 12, I do think it would have shaken the psyche of our people. All of a sudden, our school would not have been in a major conference. Wichita State University is a fine institution, but we're perceived at a different level because we're in a BCS league and they're in the (Missouri) Valley, and that's nothing against the Missouri Valley."

So, from the horse's mouth, the only difference between the athletic programs is one of perception, and only because KSU gets to associate itself with the legitimate big boys.

            Brilliant!

I think those comments may hurt the psyche of his fan base. Nothing like a little dose of reality...

The "reality" they had to face was that not one of the so-called "elite" conferences wanted them. K-State and KU fans have a sense of entitlement. They feel they are entitled to be in a BCS conference. I'm sure for a period of time this summer fans of both schools were "shaking in their boots" thinking they may be relegated to drop to one of the "lower" conferences and be forced to rub elbows with the likes of WSU (notwithstanding the soft shoe remarks by President Schulz). My God, a fate worse than death.

I don't know what the future holds for WSU and/or the Valley. I'm very afraid a shakeup is coming -- one we may not like. I don't want to see my beloved Shockers have to go "conference shopping" with hat in hand. That would break my heart.

What a freaking moron. If it wasn't for Texas, Kitten State would be where they rightfully belong, in a mid-major conference. What this goon fails to realize is that his university had no pull in their stay in the Big 12. They had to rely on the decisions made by another conference member. That's when you know what your true worth is.

Actually, if you read the whole interview he admits that they had no control over their fate and simply had to wait for Texas to decide their fate. Now THAT is sad.
