I might add that I think that he is having a good year except for his occasional bad decision to dribble too much.

I agree, unless he can find a way to play like he did today....

6 assists and 1 turnover in 32 mins...not shabby and I was surprised when I saw that line!

Now PJ is turning it over WAYYY to much...5 times today :( Mekel on the other hand is actually not bad on the stat sheet compared to the rest of the players...1.8 to's per game.

I think most of us just remember his to's the most because it's usually a turnover that was in the open floor, or a risky pass...etc. So they are more memorable, but really he's not turning it over as bad as I had thought.

Gal so far this year is shooting 43.7% from the field, while having 13 assist and 7 TO. Not too shabby to start his sophmore season

It's better than PJ's (9 assist/13 turnovers) and Matt's (13 assists/9 turnovers). Although I really do think that Matt and PJ will start to turn it over less...at least that is my hope.

A bad shot is the same as a turnover. He has taken plenty of those.

And yet he's shooting better from the field then ANY other guard on the team. I'm not saying he hasn't shot ANY bad shots, God knows they all have. But with the freedom Marshall's system gives and with the fact he is making a decent number of them....what is a bad shot to you may not really be a bad shot.

I tried telling everyone last year that Mekel was just raw talent and he was going to be great, but nobody wanted to listen to me. I'm just joking around here, but for all of those that thought Mekel was a waste of a scholly, COME EAT YOUR CROW! LOL

I can't believe Eagle would say that and I am too lazy to verify it. Bottom line: gal tried two different styles to lead a very lost team against Baylor and Monmouth. In each game he tried to score to carry the team in the first the half. In the second half of each game he found teammates. He was the conduit that allowed PT to score in the second half against Monmouth. The kid is far from perfect and is not a "machine" as far as doing exactly what big brother wants him to do, but he is trying to WIN.

The kid puts up with more "instruction" from coaches than any D1 player in history and still bust his butt. Later from VI!

Some of you are just crazy. No one said that Gal was a wasted scholarship. In fact, most everyone simply thought MT was holding him back. Now that I have seen him in all his glory, it is apparent why MT held him back, as well, it is obvious how talented he is. Gal simply needs to find his roll. To this point in the season Gal is the best player we have.

Yes proshox,I said it. I have never thought Gal was a team player and I still think that to this day. If he can prove me wrong I'll admit it. You can call me old(67) and senile if you want but Over my lifetime I have watched alot of BB. I have been right in alot of my accessments of players . Anyway I stand behind what I said, sorry if I offend anyone but I have the right to express my opinion. :( :( :(

Here's the link to Braeuer and Ogirri's So season stats:

Mekel is around Ogirri's points, around Ogirri's A/TO ratio, not that far from Braeuer's A/TO ratio, not that far from either's FG%.

I think Mekel is showing more progress from his Fr year to his So year than either Braeuer or Ogirri. Mekel was hyped as a potential NBA PG. That doesn't seem a likely destination right now, but Mekel is still learning the American game. PG in American ball isn't an easy position to learn.

Maybe our expectations were too high. Mekel is an ESPN highlight waiting to happen every time he touches the ball. That involves some risk. He needs to learn to limit the risk and still produce the highlight films. That's not easy and he isn't likely to make the highlight film moves if he significantly reduces the risks involved in those passes and moves.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Man, I know what you mean. If this kid improves from this year to next year as much as he did from last year to this year, he's going to the NBA, no doubt. Again, that's just an "IF", but he certainly has matured a lot in just one year. Keep up the great work Mekel.
