Hmmm...

Great for him as he will be able to get back home fairly easily to be with his folks and younger siblings. By Texas standards, the distance between Midland and Belton is negligible

What is it, Len -- about 300 miles?

Sort of like Wichita to Goodland for our Kansans, except that Southwest flies from Midland to Austin, and Matt can no doubt get someone to come to Austin to pick him up. To get to Goodland, you have to take a crop duster.

in Texas speak, "It is just up the road a piece."

In Kansas speak, "It is about 319 miles from Austin to Midland."

However, the way drivers drive in Texas, the distance is not far at all, when measured in time. There are a lot of unlicensed pilots down here, because, when they are out on the long stretches of highway like what we are talking about, they will fly.
