First off, I think you picked the wrong book. It appears to be an instruction manual for girls. Those are girls playing ball on the cover or long haired hippies.

Second, that ball appears to be rather large in comparison to the rim. I think they are playing those pop-a-shot games at a circus, big ball - small rim.
