Paul Sullentrop back from vacation and gives a rundown the staff departures this summer in his Shockwaves Blog:
There will be a lot of new faces in the marketing/development department soon. senior associate athletic director Brian Pracht took a job at Arkansas. Associate AD Brian Morris moved to Learfield Communications at Oklahoma State. Both were among the most experienced people in WSU’s upper management and both will be missed. Pracht filled many roles in the department and did a lot of high-profile work with WSU’s TV package and men’s basketball. He worked closely with basketball coach Gregg Marshall on issues such as scheduling. I considered him Marshall’s go-to guy in the department. Pracht is from Emporia and, with more experience, I would expect him to be on WSU’s list the next time it needs an AD.
John Brewer, formerly at New Mexico, has taken over as director of marketing and promotions for Shannon Perniciaro.
Scott Garrett, assistant athletic director for ticket operations, is now an assistant athletics director at Kansas State.
Nick Hoheisel, associate strength and conditioning coach, moved to the strength staff at Oklahoma State.
Former Shocker third baseman Nate Goro will transfer to Jefferson (Mo.) College to play his sophomore season. Goro left the WSU team after the 2010 season, citing a desire to get closer to his home in the St. Louis area.
Track and field coach Steve Rainbolt has a short list of possible replacements in mind for cross country coach Marc Burns. Rainbolt won’t divulge the name of the favorite, but will say he would like to have the new coach in place as soon as Aug. 1. The coach who takes over for Burns inherits a women’s team that should be favored to win the MVC for a sixth straight season.
