  • Not so fast?

Does this merely postpone the inevitable if it turns out to be true? Buy time for more Shocker folks to get on the football bandwagon? Keep things pretty much the way they are?

It doesn't rhyme like John and Kate plus 8...but would they have to name this new conference Texas and Oklahoma plus 8?

Latest development is that it's close to a done deal that the Big Twelve minus two will stay intact.

Remaining schools in Big 12 close to saving league

According to sources familiar with the deal, Texas stands to earn between $20 million and $25 million in television revenue, including money from its own network. The UT network figures to generate between $3 million and $5 million, according to sources.

According to sources, the deal will mean more money for Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, who all stand receive $20 million from the new deal. The other seven schools in the Big 12 would make between $14 million and $17 million, but would nearly double what they currently receive in TV revenue (roughly $7 million to $9 million).

So are we going to have a Big 12 with 10 teams and a Big 10 with 12 teams or are they just going to swap names?

And CU and UNL will have to cough up 10 big ones apiece.

All they need to do is add a dash and a plus: The Big X-II, The Big X+II.

It won't be a BCS conference since their won't be a championship game.

The Pac-10 and Big 10 have been BCS conferences w/o a Championship game for years.

As long as the new conference has Texas and OU, it will be a BCS conference.

Does this make it appear that Texas enjoys bossing around the Big 12 a bit more than we might have originally thought.

They appear, if this is true, to prefer to be a very large fish in a medium pond, as opposed to a large fish in a very large pond.

If there is not 12, they cannot have a championship GAME. They can still be BCS.

If there's one thing that has come out of this so far...that is that nothing is a done deal until there is a formal announcement.

Agreed. If the Pac-10 decides to let Texas have their own media network, you could see things swing back in the other direction.
