Just heard on Channel 3 that WSU has hired Chad Dollar, formerly the Associate Head Coach at Arkansas St. Sorry if this was posted in the Earl Grant thread, but I didn't take a chance to look. If it has, I apologize.

Now that it's official it doesn't hurt to address it in its own thread. I'm pretty stoked about this hire. Sounds like very good Southern connections and I get the feeling he's a heck of a recruiter. Joining forces with the current staff and being able to recruit to what we have should allow him to be successful.

Agreed. Just having some fun (we have been discussing it since Saturday evening). ;-)

I must admit, I have less concern over this change than when Boyle left MT (and Spin was hired). I think it sounds like Coach Dollar will be a strong player's coach while having the skills and desire to do whatever is needed by HCGM.

This is a Solid hire. Next thing you know, Trop and Sub will be figuring out who he was recruiting futuristically, just in case it could carry over to future recruits here? Yikes!!! Mr. Dollar can coach, recruit, and is a class act and we welcome him to Shocker Country!!!!!!!

Welcome Coach Dollar! It's good to see HCGM pick up another solid assistant! The future is bright--but of course we knew that already, and so did Dollar!

                From Sullentrop's interview:

Q: When you enter a gym to recruit, what are the first things you look for?

A: I try to do my homework. I look at character. I feel it’s very important to get recruits who are good kids. That can get you through some things. There’s going to be ups and downs. I’m going to watch that, also, in my evaluation in the gym. How he reacts to his coaches and his team. Is he talking to people in the stands? Does he want everything centered around him? Then I’m going to look at talent. And how they would fit into the puzzle that we’re trying to put together.
That's a pretty solid priority list.

Sully's article this morning said that Dollar was all over the opportunity and was very active in trying to get the job. I like that!

                      Loved this section:

Chad Dollar started working for WSU over the weekend and is expected to arrive on campus today. His last trip to Koch Arena was memorable, for all the wrong reasons. He coached on the LSU staff in 2007-08, when the Tigers visited WSU and lost 67-47. "It was something that always stuck with me," he said. "To see the fans and the fan support — I've been in other arenas around the country and that was unbelievable."

Interesting comments on the Arkansas State message board. They obviously hate to lose Coach Dollar. One thing that stood out was this comment:

There is a notable athlete in this state that both ASU and Wichita State are after. While I doubt this would impact it, I really hope we don't lose out on a 2011 signee because of it.

From what I can tell it would be Vint or David Rivers. Unless there's somebody else from AR that I've missed

Could be Micah Delph, but I don't see where WSU has been recruiting him.
