Pretty much looks like baseball will decide it.... If ISU wins 3 out of 4 games left or better it's theirs.....if not, then it is going to be close.

From Mike Kern of MVC
"We handle the math a little differently than that.
Teams are awarded an equivalent point total for their placement in the standings (or final championship results for those that do not have regular-season round-robin play). For track, Wichita State had 2 points for the women, and 1 point for the men. All of the numbers are added up and divided up by the total number of sponsored sports for that school. Currently, Wichita State has 41 total points through 14 sports (2.93 average). Illinois State has 45 points in 16 sports (2.81 average)."

If those numbers are correct, and Mr. Kern certainly is in the position to assure they are, then its over.
There is only 1 sport left. Even if WSU finishes 1 (42 points/15 sports) and ISU finishes 2nd (47/17) then its 2.76 to 2.80, Redbirds win.
That's as close as it gets. Any one placing, in any sport, would change the finish. For instance, if the ISU women would have finished 4th (as predicted) instead of 3rd, then the Shocks would win.
I was going to try and find a tenth of second in a race that would have made that difference, but the ISU team really performed well and actually were 18 points clear of 4th place Indiana State.
Still, one spot difference does sting.

By the way, I call BS on counting women's soccer and swimming and diving (if that is counted).
Only 7 teams compete in soccer and only 5 in S & D.
Perhaps we can assemble our Indian exchange students and put together a cricket team where we can finish 1 or 2 every year to boost our standing?

There are two methods of calculating trophy points, depending on the type of play.
Method 1 - Round robin play like basketball and baseball.
Method 2 - Non round robin play like track and field.
I have set out the two methods of calculations below.
If track and field were calculated as if it was a round robin sport, then the Shockers probably would win the All Sports Tropy. Unfortunately, it is not.
Remember, the lowest point total is the winner.

Rio you are doing the calculations wrong. Round Robin vs Tournament placing means nothing on the calculations. Only the actually placing. The Round Robin vs. Tournament is just showing how they got that placing.
You can't do round robin in track as there is no event that is just WSU vs Illinois State. You can only use tournament results. In a sport like basketball, they use the regular season standings (round robin) to determine the placing.
You add all the sports placings together then divide by number of sports a school participates in.
