Really? I figured we'd have this wrapped up already...

It doesn't look good, considering ISU is leading us in both baseball and softball (particularly softball). Track & Field will have to beat ISU by good margins.

Let's see; we have baseball and (outdoor) T&F left. Right? Softball?

        MBB: WSU #2, ISU #3
        WBB: ISU #1, WSU #6
WSB: ISU #2, WSU #7 (still playing)
MBS: ISU #1, WSU #2 (still playing)
        WSO: ISU #1
        WVB: WSU #2, ISU #8
        MCC: ISU#4, WSU ?? (not Top 5)
        WCC: WSU #1, ISU #2
        MGL: WSU #1, ISU #3
        WGL: ISU #1, WSU #6
WS&D: ISU #2 (not sure if this sport counts)
MTS: WSU #1, ISU #2 (tennis)
WTS: WSU #1, ISU #2 (tennis)

        Remaining:
        2010 State Farm MVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship (M & W)
        Baseball
        Softball

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Does the All Sports Trophy incorporate just the regular season standings?

I believe it does for the team sports. The individual sports would have to use the conference championships.

Actually, it counts regular season sometimes, and post season other times.

Also Spangler, I don't think your list incorporates Indoor Track and Field, which are 2 #1s for WSU and a 4 and 5 for ISU.

I feel pretty confident WSU will win the trophy back this season.

While we'll lose a lot of ground in softball, it is highly unlikely that we won't gain at least 5 spots in the outdoor T & F meet.

As long as baseball stays close, we should be fine.

                    Inquiry to MVC:

                    "Mr. Kern,

Is post season play considered for the All Sports Trophy? If so, please give an overview only. Detail is not requested.

What are the four remaining sports, which have not been completed as yet?

Baseball and softball are still running. Are men's and women's outdoor track the two sports remaining?

                    Thanks.

                    Ricardo del Rio"

                    Reply from MVC

"Post-season is not considered. And yes, those are the four sports."

                    Mike Kern"

I don't know what Mr. Kern is talking about.

The only thing that can be counted is the Conference Championship Tournament or Meet in the following sports:

                      Mens and Womens Cross Country
                      Mens and Womens Golf
Mens and Womens Indoor Track and Field
Mens and Womens Outdoor Track and Field

And please correct me if I am wrong but I think they count the Valley tournament in mens and womens tennis as well, but I could be wrong there.

That's 8 (for sure) post season championships out of 16........

My contact person at MVC is Mike Kern. He is a pretty good guy and best of all, he answers his email promptly.

                        His email address: Kern@mvc.org

If I understand him correctly, the results for post season play such as the basketball tournament in STL and the baseball tournament are not considered in the All Sports Trophy calculations.
