Has anyone heard how much that Oregon offered Altman?

I believe I read something this weekend that said that it was in excess of $1.5 million.

The deal is worth $10 million over 9 seasons."

        EDIT http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...creighton.html

Some ISU fans aren't sorry to see him go.

I'm pretty sure 4 years ago UNI bumped him up to around $400 per year to try to keep him. He took $700 per year from ISU a couple of weeks later.

CU fans are not overjoyed. :yahoo:

I don't think it is that bad of hire.

          Ricardo del Rio,

He'll fit right into the MVC because that is exactly how every other team plays.

              Altman's Family Crest:

"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

                Hey coaches . . . don't ever say that.

                Hey fans . . . don't ever believe that.

Yes, and he's no longer at Winthrop -- which is the point. When they back out of a job like that it makes it hard to work out _where they currently are_, for very long.

I agree, Royal. However, I believe very few knowledgeable fans would actually buy a coach making that statement.

I think the rub here is 1) how quickly he left after making that statement and 2) the circumstances of the program when he left. We even went through a little of this. Hind sight, some of thought it might have been better for the WSU basketball program had MT left a year earlier. That with all the returning players, we would have had no problem in attracting a top coach (which we did anyway), the team would have stayed intacted, and the flow of new, quality players would have continued. However, MT "left while the gettin' was still good" and WSU was going to go through a rebuilding process.

Altman may have felt much in the same situation. Program was down from what it was used to, there was some consternation among the team and fans, and the time might not be better to go. Particularly with what was being dangled in front of him (much the same with MT).

Haha thanks for the correction -- I'm working with a Mr. Stephens as I type and it had me all scrambled up.

I predict Coach Altman will be retiring at age 54 or 55.
