See the recruiting forum for the answer to that question. Pay particular note to the Ben Smith topic. :D

I half agree with pinstripers, Grant is the far greater loss. KM doesn't have it at this level. He can drop down a level and have a fine college career. I don't understand why so many posters think this is so bad? Why should we be stuck with a kid that doesn't pan out or vice versa? They did not push KM out the door, but it is the right decision all around, and we will hopefully give his scholarship to someone who can come in and develop into a great player.

I didn't mean to minimalize the KM thing, but just meant to emphasize how bigga deal Coach leaving really is.

Man...what a bummer! I still had great expectations for him.

I really think if he had redshirted this year this would be a different story. Too bad a different decision wasnt made. I think his confidence got hurt and he couldn't recover.

Anyone know anything about the hs recruit in San Antonia? A little birdy informed me on Saturday that KM was gone and 6'7" kid from San Antonia was in town. Sounds like an official visit at the 11th hour.

This is the second time the Eagle has had something about him. Good looking prospect whose stock is climbing and WSU is in the mix with some BCS schools.

I was really hoping to see this fine young man clamping down on Shocker opponents' best outside threats and making life miserable for them. Now I hope he doesn't to it to us in the future!

Best of luck in the future KJ!!

I wish the young man the best in his future. I think he has a lot of potential but didn't see the prospect of a lot of PT in the near future. I hope he can find a school near home where he can be the guy right away.

Let's not be so insecure guys. Let's just take his statement at face value and leave it at that. He wanted to get closer to home.

Let's face it, college basketball is a high expectation business...period. Coaches win and keep their jobs...they lose and become a poster with a name like shockalicious or shockdeliscrumpcious...or worse SHOXMVC. KM is a nice kid from what it sounds like. KM's happen in every program in the country. Posters have thrown around descriptions like "has a lot of potential...athletic...mega talented...potential lock down defender...etc. If he truly had all those descriptions, we wouldn't be talking about him in the past tense. KM didn't work out on the floor for the Shockers. It appears his tools were over valued. That's ok...these things happen. Time to move on. Ten years ago we would have seen him play 4 years, but not today. He doesn't have the handles, shot or the height to play in this program at this time. You don't hear of many 6-4 projects. That is what KM is...a project . EO is a project that won't cost a coach his job. I don't know Ben Smith from sickem, but his tool shop seems to have the logical wrenches, screw drivers and rachets for the job at hand. Sorry KM...welcome to the cruel world; and like many other posters, I wish him luck.

I've seen the stuff about Ben Smith, Royal, and I hope the Shocks do indeed sign him. I'm a little surprised there hasn't been something from Paul S., though, or even an official announcement -- surely they have fax machines in Oklahoma? Also, we're still hearing about Andre Roberson, the promising SF from San Antonio (although that could also just prefigure another departure, which wouldn't surprise me, inasmuch as Manigault wasn't the first guy I expected to leave anyway).

In any case, I certainly join all those who wish the best for Manigault wherever he goes. Looks like he'll get that redshirt year that he probably could have used here.

I don't think that any of us know for SURE what went down and why KM is leaving. I don't think that GM is the type of guy that sends kids packing. The only thing that has been said on the record is that Coach was unhappy with KM's "work ethic" in getting in the gym (on his own time) and working on some deficiencies that the coaching staff had identified. GM wasn't happy about it.

I've never heard coach mention his work ethic...only that he wasn't getting "it." "It" referring to the system.
