What about an assistant from Winthrop? Particularly the one that would have the responsiblility of recruiting the state and the SE.

When Marshall left Winthrop, he brought Grant with him. If there was another guy on the Winthrop staff that he thought was as good as Grant, I think he would already be here.

Losing an assistant shouldn't be taken lightly. The importance of an assistant is often overlooked by fans.

Bradley fans wanted to fire Les a few years ago. Then Les hired a supposedly retired assistant, started winning some games, and made a S16. Then that assistant retired again and Bradley moved right back into the middle of the pack in the Valley where Les has had them through his entire career. Now Bradley fans want to fire Les again. I think Lowery lost an assistant at SIU just before he imploded that program, but I'm not certain.

It's a big adjustment for a staff and affects everything from how recruiting is organized to how practices are set up and handled, to how game-time decisions are made. Grant has been Marshall's "guy" for quite a while now, so this may have an impact on the W/L record next year.

1)Do not underestimate the position, influence and talent of Chris Jans.

            2)Tad Boyle.

When you talk about the impact of an assistant leaving, don't forget the effect many thought Tad Boyle's leaving had.

Coach put a tremendous staff together pretty quickly when he came to Wichita St. I trust he will get the assistant he needs and wants without much of a problem.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Yes, and he has a TON of AAU contacts in the Jackson Heights area.

In addition to believing that recruiting is our futuuuuuuuuure, that is.

Heck why does he need to replace him? He has about 100 free assistant coaches right here on ShockerNet!

I vote for Ken Reeves from Carver High. Maybe he can bring Pettrino with him as an invited walk-on to infuse some toughness in this squad.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

I, too, think we should hire a Big Man and recruiting coach. I would think that X might have better offers than we could provide, but I think Cliff would be a good choice for a coach.

Just because Cliff was/is a big man, does not mean that he can TEACH it.
