  • Butler should open minds — and doors — for midmajors Read m

From the KC Star today. Good article.

The BCS conferences finished a combined 44-31 for a .587 winning percentage. The combined record for the Horizon, Missouri Valley, West Coast, Colonial, Mid-American, Ohio Valley and Ivy was 15-8, a .652 percentage.

Take away Butler’s run, and the rest of the group still surpassed break-even.
But when it comes to selection and seeding, the midmajors have long cried foul. They often find themselves compared with BCS football-level programs that have worse records when the bracket is being filled.

Eighth team from the Big East or second from the Missouri Valley? Wichita State finished with a better record and RPI than Notre Dame, but few eyebrows were raised when the Irish received an invitation and the Shockers didn’t.

Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Great article! It dispels many of the myths that people from other schools (BCS) have about "mid-majors" not being able to play with the big boys.

I like what Coach K said about the subject.

Interesting win percentages for the BCS schools versus mid-majors.

Yes, go Butler and other mid-majors.
