The Missouri State Bears basketball team had its 24th victory this year on Tuesday night by winning the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Its the first time the team has ended its season with a win in over 30 years. Many fans are attributing the teams success to its new head coach, Cuonzo Martin.

The NCAA named the Bears the 5th most improved college basketball team in the U.S. this season. MSU won 10 more games than last year.

It's great to see two MVC teams do exceptionally well in post season tournaments.

Next season, lets make it at least four.

Not to mention they beat the team that knocked us out of the NIT. Weems may be pre-season POY.

Don't talk as if we are entitled to Titles. Very KU like.

No, not really just some positive thoughts. And I don't really think that w/ those Bears hanging around it will be tough for the Shox to avoid the play in round.

Yeah, they may have won, but it is pretty sad that they only had 6800 fans there watching in the new arena.

The Springfield Metropolitan Area population in 2008 was approximately 426,000. MSU's attendance of 6,800 is around 1.60% of that population.

The Wichita Metropolitan Area population for 2009 was approximately 612,000. WSU's attendance of 10,000 is around 1.63% of that population.

So both schools have a similar percentage compared to their populations.

However, when you take into consideration only the total enrollment of each school, then MSU should have a higher attendance. But their 6,800 attendance is only around 35.8% of their total enrollment of 19,000, while WSU's attendance of 10,000 is around 71.4% of their total enrollment of 14,000.

I got some of the information above from http://www.stateuniversity.com, which has all kinds of information such as where we rank as a school in ACT/SAT scores. There's also information about student tuition costs and fees, student enrollment demographics, student graduation demographics, etc.

Incidentally, the WSU student population is 43.5% men to 56.5% women (6,080 to 7,884).

More information about Wichita State is at http://wichita.stateuniversity.com.

Not so much if you actually go on campus and take a look around.

Those nasty percentages of non-traditional and foreign students really take their toll on the "hottie" counts.
