molly - If you are referring to "tainted" as shockball describes, I don't see it either.

First, JRag was flying below the SN radar. Had he been in the discussion earlier, I would think most here would have been thrilled with he or Carter. As for me, Carter was well above any other PG in our talks here, except for T. Smith, but he tainted himself IMO.

Secondly, HCGM set the tone his first year here when he gave Sampay the "s**t or get off the pot" ultimatum. He wants players who WANT to be here. I believe he would even take a slightly less gifted player if that player really wanted to be here and the other player was just not ready to pull the trigger. That's no knock on the other player, just bonus points for the one who knows he wants to be here.

By the way, I've made it very clear that Carter was, by far, my first choice for ANY player we were looking seriously at. That was before we knew JRag was in the mix. Now, I have no reservations that we got the player we needed for that spot and I wish Carter the best with who ever he choices to play for.

      Huh?

"This is the rumor as for how it went for EB, you may overvalue yourself."

Who's EB? Names are more useful than initials.

He's referring to Evann Baker, MT recruit who it is said wanted to be wined and dined again by HCGM and other teams after MT left. I think HCGM was willing to take Evann, but not if he was starting all over at square one.

I never really thought of Carter as a PG. Not when I watched him and not from the stats he put up. He brought the ball up the court and made the first pass in the offense, but that was about the end of his PG duties. He certainly would never be described as a "pass-first" PG, but that was part of the system he ws in at 3R.

As long as WSU was recruiting him as a PG, I didn't see where my opinion really mattered, so I kept my mouth shut. Now that it's pretty clear he will not become a PG at WSU, I'm more free to express my opinion that Carter is not a true PG.

I don't see that as tainting Carter. I think Carter is a better fit where he could at least play a role as a combo guard, and WSU already has 2 SG's that would be in the same class as Carter.

I love Carter's play and would love to have seen him wearing black and yellow, but I think it's probably best for him and for WSU that he attends another school. I wouldn't have said that if he had signed, because that would be the same as saying that I knew better than Marshall about what players should play what positions and roles. I'm not always the brightest bulb in the package, but I'm not that dim.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

It looks like HCGM filled the biggest piece of the puzzle for next year.

When he is making money as a professional baseball player he won't be. He didn't have a choice really when he had to choose between the two sports. One he has a future in and the other he doesn't.
And the probability of that is??? The reality is his future is getting a college degreee. But he gave up a full ride scholarship for I guess some partial scholarship.

Most Shocker players who are destined for the major league come into the program you know there is something special about them. He is not even starting for a Shocker team that is struggling.
Darn you and your logic. Stop it!

-Please specifically point out where I said "MLB". Last time I checked unless you are a senior with no where else to go signing bonuses pay out descent mutiple rounds into the draft. Remember he is a red shirt so will be degreed with one year left of eligibility.

-Please explain to me how choosing baseball over basketball means no degree?

Please read post carefully before you rip into them. RDR I expect it out of you because your old and half retarded (maybe there is another 3 day old article you can post as if it's new again).

The Fact is Coy's future lies in baseball whether you want to see that or not. Now he may never reach the bigs but he will be drafted again (7th round out of high school) based on potential alone. I for one believe he will also have a career that warrants him being drafted.

Now as far as you deciding he isn't anything special you may be right. However you are using about 20 at bats to decide this. Good job, you should be an MLB scout.

Our PG position should be a formidible 2-headed monster in the MVC. Who cares who starts. Ragland appears to be concerned about the end result rather than setting up for the jump ball. The important thing is we send out the point guard position for 40 minutes and theoretically can hang with the quickness of Ahelegbe and Maniscalco and hopefully will stay in front of them. Offensively, the opposition can stand on their heels for a change, worrying about our quickness on the perimeter. Our 2-headed monster can shoot, score, penetrate, scoop, dish and if they can match defensive technique & instinct with their quickness...look out. GO SHOX :yahoo:

Yup I think our biggest concern will be turnovers, but I bet JRag dials in quick (he won't be shell shocked by the speed -- it won't be a y different than his past two years), and DWill was playing so well at the end of the season that we have something special brewing.
