  • NCAA Tourney History - Greatest Player You Never Heard Of

I'll start with this all time classic.

Fennis Dembo - University of Wyoming

Read what Fennis has overcome in his days after being a cowboy.

I am looking for 1 in particular.....let's see who gets it.

    Tom Garrick

He was one of the stars of the Rams’ run through the NCAA Tournament in 1988, one of the their best postseasons in the modern era, and what made it even better was that he was the product of a larger story, the son of man who lost his sight when he stepped on a land mine in World War II...That became one of the story lines of the NCAA Tournament that year, the URI star with his blind father looking on at the games, the man who taught his son all about endurance and living with grace, lessons that transcended a basketball court.

I can still vividly remember watching this on TV. URI beat Mizzou and Cuse before falling to Duke by a point. This guy is playing lights out while the CBS camera is glued to his older brother providing the play by play to his blind father in the stands. The epitomy of a cinderella story line if there ever was one.

      Harold "The Show" Arceneaux.

68 points in two games in the '99 Dance.

In the decade following his legendary performance that knocked UNC out of the NCAA tournament, Harold "The Show" Arceneaux has brought his act to just about every corner of the globe.

Very interesting. I remember him being on the SI Cover, but he predated my arrival in San Antone so I never knew about that connection (or any of the other stuff). Glad to see he fought through.

Fennis absolutely lit up Reggie Miller and UCLA in the dance.

Made more interesting because Fennis had mentioned, before the game, that he was going to light Reggie up!
