I know it's not NCAA tourney, but the game I can't get out my head is WSU vs FSU, in the NIT a few years back. I had floor seats and it's my fondest memory of any college game, mainly because I was there and it was freaking exciting. I don't even care that we lost -- we fought hard and FSU's stud just kept hitting ridiculous game saving 3's from NBA range. I promise you that is the game that fella will remember for the rest of his life too.

I just went back to a site to try and find our 2006 wins at the Dance. The only game I could find was our GMU loss so I watched it anywho. Yikes!!! We should have beat GMU that year here at 21st and Hillside and I doubt they would have even made it to the Dance. If I recall, GMU did not win their conference tourney? However, GMU also beat N.C. and U Conn at the Dance so they were not chopped liver.

GMU starts out at 7-10 from the 3 point line. At one point from the 3 point line, our beloved Shocks were something like a "Jack Frost North Pole" 2-22? Help!!!!!!! At one time in that game, we were down 19 points but inched back in with GMU missing several throws at the end and the final was 63-55. In retrospect, with 20-20 hindsight, it appeared that Miller, Martin, and Wilson inside could have been much more productive inside versus that dismal "live by the 3 and die by the 3 approach." However, in that game, we were also missing some chip shots where GMU was hot and we were not.

One thing about our 2006 team, we went 7 deep solid and had 2, tough point guards in Matty B. and K. Bradley. I still wished that Taj Gray would have played here instead of Oklahoma. We went farther that year than Ok. did, but we could have used 1-2 more solid players to take us deeper into the Dance.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

But perhaps the one that hits me the hardest was the 1990 round of 32 matchup between Michigan and Loyola Marymount. Marymount, still grieving from the death of their star Hank Gathers, summoned all the heart and courage one team could and spanked the Wolverines like they had talked about their mom.

Jeff Fryer must have hit 12 threes (at least) and Bo Kimble scored at will. Actually, everyone scored at will. My favorite memory of that game was after Jeff Fryer buried yet another bomb for what had to be a 30+ point lead at the time, just turned around and got in Michigan guard Rumeal Robinson's grill...who was dead spent, head dropped, he was DONE....and said to him....sorry, but we got a lot more for ya.

        149-115 Loyola Marymount

RIP Hank Gathers (I hope you and Guy are having fantastic horse games)

I still tear up when I see Bo Kimble shoot that free throw.

It's been mentioned once, but it's my favorite:

1998. OKC. Valpo-Ole Miss. Bryce Drew. Madness at the Myriad!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Another good one: 2004 Oklahoma State-St. Joe's with that HUGE shot at the end by John Lucas to send the Cowboys to the Final Four. What a clutch shot.

The game winning shot by John Lucas III. The win over St. Joes sent the Cowboys to the 2004 Final Four.

Murrell did not out duel Stallworth. Look it up if you don't remember. We lost our point guard Ernie Moore for the post season. KS Center Roger Sutner played the game of his life. That guy had only 3 fingers on his shooting hand.

The next year WSU beat favored Oklahoma State to advance to the final four. No Stallworth, no Bowman, no Moore. Kelley Peete, Jamie Thompson, with Dave Leach playing center.
