well whatever. I get to still take off work Thursday and Friday just to watch basketball. It would be nice to watch the Shox. But we'll be there next year
There is no question that if it were a blind draw, the BCS schools would not fare as well. Fair has nothing to do with it, though. More people will tune in to watch Illinois play in the first round, than will tune in to watch William & Mary. That's just the way it is. I do wish that they would all stop pretending that it is all done on merit.
Missouri's resume is so much better than WSU's. If you can't see that, you are blinded by your rooting interests.
"So much better?" The average RPI win is all of 10 points higher - a statistical wash given the level of parity in the NCAA, and the average RPI loss shouldn't count at all because they have the luxury of being destroyed by KU twice a year.
They were, at best, the fifth-best team in the Big 12 behind KU, KSU, Baylor, and Texas A&M, and they'd probably be sixth or seventh if they hadn't lucked out in the schedule and gotten to play OSU and Texas at home. So what you're saying is that a mediocre Big 12 team is better than a top-tier MVC team, by virtue of who is compelled to play them in Columbia?
By the way, check out those cupcakes at the bottom of their win column. We didn't do much better, but we did do better.

If you want to say that our cupcakes were slightly better than their cupcakes, fine. What difference does it make? NCAA teams almost always win when facing anyone 200+. Missouri did. WSU... well, we had Evansville. Heck, our 2nd worse loss was probably worse than their worst.
If you want to throw out the 2 games vs KU, fine. Once you do, they now have fewer losses than us despite a tougher schedule.
The average RPI win of 10 higher is significant. That is a wash in any 1 game, but over a whole season, that is significant. It is like trading 2 wins over Creighton for 2 wins over Duke.
Yes, a mediocre Big 12 team was better than a top tier MVC team, this year. The Big 12 was the best conference out there... for a reason. I don't like this one bit, but the numbers seem to leave me with no other conclusion. Take an honest look one more time. Missouri has more quality wins. Missouri doesn't have nearly the negatives in the loss column that we do. They win, easily.
