This is the first year that I think WSU has a real chance to win the whole thing.

Friday, we get the winner of the play-in game and I think that will be the toughest game. If WSU wins that one, I like our chances.

WSU is about the only team that can beat Northern Iowa, IMO.

I fear Illinios State more than anyone. My hope is to beat them on Saturday, then I will feel really good about Sunday. Of course, we will have to get past Friday first, but especially with the compeition coming back from a game the night before, I believe we'll do that.

As for us being the only team who can beat UNI, I have actually filled my bracket with us beating Bradley on Sunday after Bradley beats UNI on Saturday. Yes, I know that seems to be a stretch, but I just have a feeling about those long range shooters of Bradley getting hot enough to carry them for that game.

As shockar25 states "a new sense of purpose" for our beloved Shocks, I hope we also just make the Lou a 'brand spankin new season" with so much we can achieve for our Program with a 3-game-whisk. Last night on the parting shots, Bruce Heartl had some nice perspectives about our Season that I wish somebody here has the skills to pipe in here. He mentioned how close even our road losses to Creighton, N. Iowa, etc. were and expects us to continue to progress forward with more success on the road next Season with all of our returning players back except #3.

It is nice to see the optimism here on SN and I hope our Shocks leave it all on the floor in St. Louis and see where it leads us from there. As I reflect on the Season, here is what transpired in my mind (maybe some of yours).
First I saw we were better than 5th in the Valley as we started off with a big splash. Then, we began to expect this added success but it begin to falter some on the road towards the end, but still better than last Season. Then frustration hit us all with the Evansville loss which cut deep. Back to reality but still a 2nd place finish in the Valley. The ups and downs are getting more positive as Coach Marshall continues to build the foundations. How we finish now will have much to do with the overall concept of this year. However, it has not been a commonplace for us to win 23 games and we are sure not done winning yet. That's all I have to say about that other than----- :wsu_posters:

Browsing through the Bears message board, they seem like an awfully confident bunch. They think they will knock us out on Friday.

My first advice: Make sure you get past Evansville first.
              Deuces Valley.
              ... No really, deuces.

IF Missouri State makes it past Evansville, I like our chances for a 3-0 run to the dance. If Evansville upsets Missouri State...I got a bad feeling for the weekend.
But I am of course ever hopeful. :goshocks: [/u]

I'm thinking the opposite; seems like it is hard to beat a team 3 times in the same season.

But don't all coaches tell their teams its a brand new season when they start tournament play...so in essence we are looking to beat them for the first time this season.

Hopefully, Gabe will be back close to full strength. If he is and if JT will insert himself in the game from the get go and Garrett continues his strong play I like our chances.

Sure would be nice if Toure could find his shot also.

Someone is going to win three games. You have to like UNI because of their experience and because they rarely if ever beat themselves. They always seem to do just enough to win.

Illinois State has the ability to out-athlete people and if O is On they can really be tough to handle.

Still if the Shocks can get by their 1st opponent then I think we match up about as well as anybody does with UNI and ILS. Getting the #2 seed helps a lot since our 1st game will be against a team that has to play on Thursday.

Losing DK hurts a lot, because depth can really come in handy especially if you make it to the championship game.

Shocks Rock -- Shocks Roll -- Shocks will go dancing.

Hey, how about that for a new chant:

Shocks Rock - Shocks Roll, Shocks Rock - Shocks Roll, Shocks Rock - Shocks Roll

Until now, I past on reading this thread because I thought it was... well...stupid. Then, seeing it at 3 pages got the best of me.

More than anything, when the ball is thrown up, I want the Shocks to look and play like they have a strong, burning desire to win this tourney.

They are more than capable of beating any and everyone in St Lou and, if fact, already have. This is the time to MAN UP and leave it all on the floor! They should fear no one and all should fear them!!

If they do this and don't come out with three wins, they will have nothing to hold their heads down about and everyone should feel proud about the effort. There is no shame in getting beat, but there can be the empty pit in your stomach if you lose and didn't give it your very best. One's primary goal for each game is to not have that feeling.

                            :wsu_posters:  :wsu_posters: :yahoo:

In the 07-08 season, teams that went 2-0 in the first two meetings went 89-27 in the third meeting, a win percentage of 76.7%. Sometimes a team is just better.

Then again, stats like this really have nothing to do with the Shox game, especially because I think we're all hoping for 100% of a win.
