  • Kenny's Minutes on Saturday

I thought he looked pretty good for a guy that's had to sit out for a good portion of the season. Defensively, he's got some nice skills.

Did anyone else leave with some new respect for him?

"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

I don't think he will ever play until he stops those lazy passes. He came out immediately after he did that. I'm guessing that has been stressed and overstressed. But, yeah, certainly has upside.

Reminds me of a large mouth bass just waiting in the shadows. When the ball comes by he flashes out for an aerial steal and is down the court.

I loved it and I think that he and ellis kept SIU on their heels late in the second half with their defense.

I hope he sticks around because I think he can be a star in this league.

I will comment later. I thought yesterday was quite telling.

Telling because of whom he was playing with? Mostly walk-ons?

Kenny is quite the talent and I was elated to see him make use of his playing time in the rotation yesterday. Opportunity is knocking for Kenny as we speak. Here is what I believe Kenny really needs to work on no matter what. First and foremost, Kenny needs to improve his ball handling and shooting touch. You can be assured that these improvements needed have been addressed by the Coaching Staff to the max. All the talent in the world will only take you so far at the D-1 level. However, how many of us only dreamed to have the talents of Kenny M? Thus, if Kenny makes time to devote to improving these areas, watch out!!!!!!!

I thought it was interesting that 95% of the time he was in the game it seemed like he was playing off the ball. Mayes seemed to bring the ball up most of the time. I like KM off the ball with that ability to slash to the goal and get fouled.

I happen to disagree with most of you. He stood around like a deer in the headlights most of the time, not quite with the program. He hasn't shown me anything so far. He was talked up when recruited like being almost a 4 star recruit. He seems like a project to me, and maybe a big one.

His playing has not even come close to the highlight videos from his High School play. Demetric seems to have a much bigger Basketball IQ so far.

I thought KM played like a super athletic FRESHMEN. He should have redshirted this season. His play is not uncommon for a freshmen. He can definitly get to the rack. He just needs to finish and develop an outside shot. Even though he was 4 - 6 at the line, his FT's were flat.

Any freshman who plays significant minutes is a plus. IMO, recruits should be judged their JR-SR years. Anyone remember JTD his freshman year ?

He has a chance to start at the 3 his junior year. Just needs to work on his shot.

Those that are frustrated with KM this year, get ready for EO next year. ( I hope I'm wrong )

I hope KM sticks around. If he learns to shoot better, the sky is the limit.

This may need another thread but I really like our next three Sr classes (scholarship players)

                        2011
                        Durley
                        Ellis
                        Blair
                        Hatch

                        2012
                        Stutz
                        Kyles
                        Murry

                        2013
                        KM
                        EO
                        DW

That will be 3 really good classes in a row if you don't add any juco players.

I kind of agree with this. KJ seemed to loaf on offense when he didn't have the ball. But I like his aggressiveness when he has the ball.

While Manigault put up a pretty good line - and was doing stuff the crowd loved in getting that line...

...you know it's going downhill from here.

Manigault looked like a great playground or pickup player. Manigault was showing what we see from Kyles at Shocker Madness - a lot of flash that doesn't translate to a team game and not much team play.

I think it was fairly obvious why he hasn't been getting a lot of minutes. Plus, his shot hasn't improved since Day 1, which means he probably isn't working on things that he's been told were his weaknesses.

To make a comparison (from my youth), Manigault reminds me of the hot-looking girl who was a disaster to date, but you sure wanted to learn that first-hand if you hadn't figured it out yet.

I'm comfortable with any decisions Kenny might make regarding his future education.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Great post snapshot. Since Kenny has barely played at all this whole season, how the hell is he supposed to show anything to you-oh great old wise talent scout that you are? As little time as he has gotten, he IS a deer looking into headlights. No one sits all season and then jumps into the game calmly playing at the heighth of their game. No doubt there is a good reason he is sitting this season and largely because the minutes are taken up by more mature and developed players like Hannah, Murry and others but Demetric was pretty weak in his first minutes and there is no fairness in judging Kenny by the few mostly mop up minutes he has gotten to this point. By the way most of our players' ultimate play doesn't measure up to their High School play..........cause they are playing other HIGH SCHOOLERS! Furthermore, the bestX playerX thatX thisX programX hasX everX seenX wasX aX playerX fromX South CarolinaX who didn't do much his Freshman year and wanted to go home during most of it. Go Kenny Manigualt, Go Shocks!
