  • Tiebreaker ?

How does that work? Wins vs. 1st 2nd 3rd place ect? Would we get #2 seed over ISU in event of tie?

  • #2
Yes, it is a point system with the most points awarded for beating the top teams and winning on the road. If we tie with ISU because we both win our last game, they get the 2nd seed, if we tie with ISU because we both lose our last game, we will get the 2nd seed.

Hopefully, we won't have to worry if UNI is ticked off after losing to EU and takes care of business. Isn't their troll back for that game?

so basically our game against SIU has no effect at all if we get the 2 or 3 seed. Its all on Ill St, if they win they get the 2, if they lose they will get the 3.

Yes that is right according to what I have read...

Fever broke it down and Ill defer to what he said...it was something like...we are up by 10pts and our win over SIU would get us x amount and that wont be enough to catch Ill. St. if they win as they get 20pts for beating UNI on the road...Yet if we both lose then we would have enough to keep 2nd....but yes your right it doesent matter what we do..its out of our hands as I understand it
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

First is head to head. Which we split.

The down and dirty is currently we are leading the points for the tiebreaker 103 to 93.

Il state goes to UNI. A win would be worth 20 points for them
We host SIU. A win for us would be worth 3 points.

So with both IL state and WSU winning we have:

            UNI - them +20
            SIU - Us +3.

gives them 113 and us 96. They win the tie breaker.

With the other games factored in it actually becomes, IL State - 112 WSU 107.

Both lose then it stays the same. It actually ends up with IL state 92 and WSU with either 103 or 104 depending on the DU/UE game. We win the tie breaker.

UNI isn't that good, ISU is likely to win that game. Expect a 3 seed.

2 seed...3 seed...It doesn't really matter. Why don't we just put the dawgs in the pound, or pound the dawgs...err Blow'em out of the gym, reset, and make some Arch madness!

                    Who cares?

You're on the right track, Drop. The real key isn't WSU vs. IllSt; that's just a matter of who wears white if they meet.

What matters is who ends up #6 and #7. I don't have the time to look up or figure out the 6-7 tiebreak possibilities, but if Drake ends up seventh based on a home win over Evansville and their tiebreaker vs. whoever loses between MoSt and IndSt, that would give the Shocks (assuming UNI wins their finale) the winner of a 7-10 game between Drake and Evansville. That's not a pairing I'm looking forward to, and in that event I'd rather see WSU seeded third regardless of who ends up #6.

                      Wrong.

Always hope for the 2 seed. You play a team that has just played the night before and has to turn around, on zero days rest, and play your team.

If we slip to the #3 seed, there is a chance we play a 20 win Missouri State team with plenty of rest in the opener. Take the first option. Every time.

                        Help me understand this comment.

UNI won the MVC championship with 3 games left.

                        How is ISU better?

UNI won at ISU by 15.

                          Nope

                          Disagree, GoShockers.

You're right that MoSt could be a tough first-round opponent, but (a) the game is at Terre Haute, and (b) even if they win they'll end up tied with either Bradley or Creighton (whoever loses their game in Omaha) for 5th-6th, so they might not be the #3 seed's opponent anyway. Again, I don't have time to figure out the possibilities.

As for the quick turnaround time for the 7-10 winner, I don't buy it -- maybe later in the tournament, when a play-in team that gets hot could be working on its third game in three days or fourth game in four -- but I just don't believe exhaustion is likely to set in that fast. In my view, the matchups are far more important than fatigue on Friday, and I don't like the way WSU seems to match up with Drake or especially, of all people, Evansville.

UNI won't lose on senior night to Illinois St. Shox will take 2nd.

2nd is easily the better seed to be than 3rd. GoShockers nailed that point.

You can say it doesn't matter all you want, but when you have a 2 game lead with 3 games to play and you blow it, well.... that's not good.
